6th January 2018, Hyderabad: The chilli Saturday night did not deter the enthusiasts and lovers of soulful music and colourful renditions that came along with mesmerising cinematic excellence.

So touching the performances were that the Qutub Shahi Tombs came alive to the breathtaking rendition of ‘Weaver of Dreams-The Passion of Muzaffar Ali of Kotwara’, a multi-media spectacle that blended textile history, film, dance and storytelling into a rare art form and kept the large audience spellbound.

The extravaganza held as part of 'Krishnakriti Art and Cultural Festival-2018' was a delightful outing, thanks to the perfect backdrop and the ambience that added verve to the performances.

Making Meera & Muzaffar Ali more exciting was the presence of the multifaceted Rajah Muzaffar Ali, whose versatility stretches to designing, poetry, music and makes him a revivalist. His lineage goes to the Muslim Rajput royal house of Kotwara.

The other attraction of the evening was Sathya Saran, eminent journalist and biographer, whose ‘Ten Years with Guru Dutt: Abrar Alvi's Journey’ remains a critically acclaimed bestselling biography.

A touching moment came when Muzaffar Ali hailed the uniquely alluring Pochampally textiles. Incidentally, he is right now busy with ‘Dastaan e Dastaar’, a well-researched documentary that dwells deep into the origins and evolution of Indian textiles that have stood the test of time and captured the hearts of millions of people the world over.

Mr BV Papa Rao, Adviser to Telangana State Government felicitated Muzaffar Ali, while Mr Jayesh Ranjan, IT Secretary, felicitated Sathya Saran to loud applause. The artistes were hailed for their perfect performances that enthralled all those present on the occasion while the celebrities appreciated the organisers for presenting such a delightful show.

A choreographed display of textiles designed by the acclaimed Joseph Sundar marked the perfect icing on the cake.
