M S Reddy passed away this morning

Veteran film producer and lyricist M S Reddy aka Mallemaala Sundara Rami Reddy passed away this morning at his residence in Hyderabad. He was 87. He was suffering from ill health for quite a long time. M S Reddy’s recent autobiography ‘Idhi Naa Katha’ created vast controversy. Following his foot-steps, his son Shyam Prasad Reddy became one of the top producers by producing films like ‘Aagraham’, ‘Anji’, ‘Ammoru’ and ‘Arundathi’ under their home banner M S Arts.

By hearing the name of M S Reddy, all Telugu film lovers will first image him as Chief Minister since he appeared on screen for the first time in that role in Rajasekhar’s super hit film ‘Ankusam’. M S Reddy was born in 1925 in a village called Aliviri in Nellore district. He started off his film career as a producer with ‘Bharya Bharthalu’ starring Shobhan Babu by establishing the production house Kaumudi Pictures. He later made many super hit films like ‘Srikrishna Vijayam’ starring NTR, ‘Muthyala Pallaki’, ‘Palnati Simham’, ‘Ankusam’, ‘Aahuti’, ‘Bala Ramayanam’, etc. Besides this Mr Reddy also penned several super hit songs on his pen name Mallemala.
