Director Surya Kiran, who shot to fame with Sumanth's 'Satyam' in 2003, is no more. He died due to a terminal illness today in Chennai.

In 2020, Surya Kiran was in the limelight when he participated in the Telugu reality TV show Bigg Boss Telugu 4. He was the first contestant to be evicted from the house. 'Dhana 51' in 2005, 'Brahmastram' in 2006, 'Raju Bhai' in 2007, and 'Chapter 6' in 2010 are his other directorials.

Surya Kiran had a long career as a child artist. He admittedly lost loads of money after the failure of a film that he produced in the mid-2000s. "I had led a comfortable life for many years. When the financial loss struck me, it devastated me mentally. I had to sell away my cars and a bank sealed a property I had mortgaged. I couldn't even face my mother," he added.

On the personal front, Surya Kiran was briefly married to actress Kalyani (of 'Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru!' fame) before they divorced. "Kalyani was a nice woman. But she couldn't handle my problems. She eventually decided to part ways with me," Surya Kiran said in an interview in 2020.
