SIIMA, the Biggest and the most viewed South Indian Film Awards is back with its Sixth Edition and VIVO is roped in as the Title Sponsor. This year VIVO SIIMA launches a new segment for Short Films.
The South Indian Cinema comprising of the Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages combined Accounts for more than 50% of the overall films released commercially in India and half of the country's total revenues from film content.
The Southern film industries have spearheaded the Indian film industry's transformation over the last few years and are adapting to the latest technologies as they scale newer heights in terms of content, productions and packaging.
As per smartphone and internet usage statistics, India is quickly becoming a digital-first nation where the adoption levels towards new trends are much higher. Consumer attention these days is rapidly shifting and new, lucrative routes towards using digital are building up. Having pioneered the success of the Ghazi in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil Rana further elaborated,

Process:
- SIIMA curate's short films made by young and aspiring film makers in the four South Indian languages in the years 2015 & 2016 uploaded on various social platforms on internet.
- Based on the views and analyzing reactions of viewers, the nominees will be finalized.
- 5 Nominations in each category are put in front of Jury which will select the winner in each category.
- The award winning film makers will be provided a platform to pitch their ideas to the main stream lead actors and producers at bylines of the Two days SIIMA Event.
- The Award winning artists will be given an opportunity to be part of mainstream cinema Categories:

SIIMA Short Film Awards for Telugu & Kannada will be organized in Hyderabad and for Tamil & Malayalam will be organized in Chennai in the second week of May 2017.
