In this one year of pandemic the corporates have referred to WFH as ‘Work From Home’ but the people in the entertainment industry have referred to WFH as ‘Watch From Home’. Now the buzz word across the entertainment industry is let us bring back the Music to break the silence of the Concert Halls/ Auditorium in Hyderabad
The year 2020 was the tough year. People lived the life away from live concerts, live musical programs. This forceful distancing also made people realize how important music in one’s life.
Also the toll the pandemic has taken on the mental health of the people and issues related to his such as depression, anxiety, uncertainty which lead to frustration which not any medicine can help. It also made people realize how much they have been missing music. And it is said, medicines cure, but, MUSIC HEALS. The troubled souls need solace.
The corona has vaccine, but, there is no single cure of mental problems.
Listening to calm music would probably help people get out of such issues says Mohan Hemmadi, the cultural ambassador of the city.
The troubled souls need MEHFIL or a KACHERI or live performances where a lot of energy, emotional and cultural exchange would happen says V. Narahari of Vivit Art Entertainment. He is the Tabla, exponent and curator of Uttar Dakshin, a Unique Musical Jugalbandi Concert of Hindustani & Carnatic to be held in the city towards the end of February.
While every sector is talking about revival, the entertainment, particularly, the performing industry is talking about survival. Something unique must happened to give public confidence that it is safe to come and attend concerts. But, at the same time no organizer would like to take risk unknowingly whether the musical lovers come out to attend the concerts.
Surprisingly, a couple of Public Sector Undertakings such as Gail (India) Ltd and Banks like SBI and Union Bank of India coming forward to support revive and support the cultural heritage. This will boost the entire fraternity and will also encourage the private sector which has not been doing any support to preserving Indian cultural heritage, says Mohan Hemmadi.
The concert is also being planned at a time when the whole world is confronted with challenges such as How can we socially distance at a concert? How can artists perform if the audience were to stay at home? These were the questions the music industry had to answer to survive the global pandemic. We took the risk of being the first to organizing the concert in four cities, Narahari shares. Somebody has to bell the cat. And we plunged into it. If we succeed, we end up doing good both to music lovers and performers, the fraternity. If we don’t succeed, still we have the satisfaction of having tried to revive the good old tradition of live programs.
No amount of technology give the feeling of attending the real concert, says Narahari. Very similar to COVID symptoms which would attack the breathing pattern, our musicians had lost connection with the lifeline of the audience, the exchange of energy which left them breathless and made them realize that the virtual world was no place to Live.
Though stakes are high, the Uttar Dakshin Concert of Hindustani & Carnatic will be held at Ravindra Bharathi, Lakdikapul, Hyderabad on Saturday, the 27th February at 6 pm.
It will be performed by Shri. Jayateerth Mevundi, Hindustani Vocalist & Shri. Abhishek Raghuram, Carnatic Vocalist. The Concert is dedicated to Bharat Ratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi.
The significance of the concert is that it is being organised on the eve of the Centenary Celebrations of legendary classical singer Pt Bhimsen Joshi. The year-long birth centenary celebrations of the great son of India Pt Bhimsen Joshi have already begun.
The doyen of music, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi has good connections with the city. He has performed here several times. He has many lovers of his music and die-hard fans in Hyderabad.
Shri. Jayateerth Mevundi, Hindustani Vocalist & Shri. Abhishek Raghuram, Carnatic Vocalist are very good musicians. Both artists will treat the audience with their magical compositions. Vid. Bangalore V Praveen will be on Mridangam, V. Narhari on Tabla, Vid. H N Bhaskar on Violin and Narendra Nayak on the Harmonium and they will add to the Fervour.
