Actor Sumanth Prabhas shares insights about his upcoming film Godari Gattupaina, discussing his transition to a Godavari backdrop, working with veteran actors, and his approach to movie promotions. The film will be released in theatres on May 8. Early premieres are being planned for the evening of May 7.
Tirupati Prasad is releasing the film in the Ceded region. Suniel Narang and the producer himself are handling the Nizam release. Suresh Babu garu is looking after the Andhra region.
Godari Gattupaina is my first release in three years. Since this film is coming after three years, it feels like my first film again. To reach the audience, promotions need to be innovative. They are my own ideas. I wrote and directed the promotional videos myself. Since the film is releasing in summer, we used a cool concept for the ads. They are getting millions of views. The same coolness will be felt when you watch the film.
After Mem Famous (my first movie as a hero), I listened to many stories. I was looking for a filmmaker who could present emotions in a fresh way. That is when I met Subhash Chandra, who had already made multiple short films. He used to shoot them in a cinematic style. I really liked the story he narrated. He worked very hard and wrote this story perfectly. He wanted to present it in his own style. As soon as I heard the story, I completely surrendered to him. I only told him to leave the promotions to me.
Godari Gattupaina is a super cute film set against the Godavari backdrop. It has strong emotions. I was born and brought up in Telangana. For the Godavari dialect, I practiced for nearly four months. I wanted people from that region to feel like I am speaking just like them. Acting in the Godavari dialect was even more exciting. The love story and the father-daughter emotions will connect with everyone.
Usually, auto drivers are portrayed as mass characters. In this film, they can also be very innocent and cute. My character values friends and family. It is a very well-written role. There is also an auto race in the film. I practiced specially for that sequence. It has fun and emotions. All the characters in the film are very well written.
Jagapathi Babu garu plays the main character. Recently, he has been doing more intense and aggressive roles. In this film, he appears in a very relatable and endearing character. The scenes between us will be very engaging. Nidhi Pradeep learned Telugu very well and performed wonderfully. The combination of Jagapathi Babu and Laila is also very good. It gives a strong family vibe. Devi Prasad garu played my father. He gave me many valuable suggestions and shared a lot of his experience.
Abhinav Rao is a very good producer. He gave complete freedom to the director. He did not compromise anywhere. This ensured high quality. The entire film was shot in real locations. Naga Vamshi has given superb music. The songs have received a great response. The background score will also be enjoyable for everyone.
I felt very happy when Superstar Mahesh Babu garu supported my first film digitally. His suggestion that I should do a film under his banner gave me a lot of encouragement. He always supports new talent.
