Lights, camera, action; how over the years these three words have almost become synonymous with the director who is the backbone of any movie. Cinema Paradiso in its unique style wants to pay a tribute to these directors who have over a period of time changed the style of film making and left an indelible mark.

In an age where film remains the premier popular art form, it is not surprising that the most inspired film makers have inspired a thousand imitators, made a huge impact over cultures and even spawned their own adjectives. Where would we be without Hitchcock, Kurosawa, Bergman or Kubrick?

First time in both local and international market an exclusive section is to be inaugurated for Director Series, which will feature the work of eminent directors from all over the world. Who else could be more adept than the eminent Director Mr. Puri Jagannadh to inaugurate this exclusive section. This section comprises of close to 30 different directors who have in their own way revolutionized film making.

Works of directors like David lean, Orsen welles, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Martin Scorsese, Bernardo Bertolucci, Zhang Yimou, Jean Luc Gordard, Brian De Palma, Francis Ford Coppola, Robert Altman, Claudee Chabrol,Andrzej Wajdaa, Quentin Tarantino, Sathyajith Ray, Richard Attenborough and many more can be found here. In addition to which one can also see the brilliant works of Iranian directors such as Majid Majidi, works of the legend Akira Kurosawa, one of the greatest director’s from Japan.

Also seen are titles like Roshomon, Seven Samurai, Cries & whispers, Sathyajit Ray’s Jaalsagar, Mahanagar, David Lean’s Lawrence of Arabia, Great expectations and others works that altered and revolutionized film making decades ago.

Besides these the first works  of these directors is also available in this section. For instance the not so popular 1941 by Steven Spielberg, Camera Buff by Krzysztof Kieslowski is all accessible from now on.
