The audio of Sekhar Kammula's 'Godavari', starring Sumanth and Kamalinee Mukherji, was released at a function held at Viceroy hotel on the evening of 7th April, with most of the cast and crew in attendance. Chief guest Nagarjuna released the audio cassette and presented the first to Ramesh Prasad. Hero Gopichand was also one of the guests for the evening.
"Like I said during the audio release of 'Anand', this film (Godavari) too is like my daughter" said director Sekhar Kammula. "My intention had always been to make a good film with passion. We went through strenuous work at Godavari River for 90 days. I was a little hesitant initially to cast Sumanth because he comes from a star family, but later realized how friendly and disciplined he is. Kamalinee Mukherji has done a terrific job. Veturi has provided very good lyrics, he has always been very kind to me and K.M. Radha Krishnan has gone two steps ahead with this film's music as compared to 'Anand'. The cinematography by Vijay C. Kumar is extraordinary. The tag line for this film is "Ee vesavi chala challaga vuntundi" is by Anish Kuravilla, who also did the Tag line for 'Anand'".
Complimenting Sekhar Kammula was Ramesh Prasad "In my 30 years of association with the Prasad Company, Sehkar Kammula was the one person who gave a satisfactory answer when I asked him the reason he wants to join the film industry. Sekhar makes soulful films. I wish that 'Godavari' will become a huge commercially successful film" he also congratulated Nagarjuna on the success of 'Sri Ramadaasu'.
"Summer of 2006 will be cool because of 'Godavari'" hero Sumanth said "With my experience in this industry in can say that there are two ways of giving hit films. One, the formula based ones. And the other one is by bending the norms and making a different film. 'Godavari' belongs to the second category. The reason we invited Nagarjuna to this function is because he is a fine example of achieving success by doing different films like Shiva, Geetanjali, Annamayya and Sri Ramadaasu".
Speaking of his nephew, Nagarjuna said "Sumanth is going through the kind of phase that I went through while doing films like Geetanjali and Shiva. I liked 'Anand' very much and observed that Sehkar Kammula is a very simple and honest film maker. And after listening to that film's(Anand) songs, I developed an interest towards classical music. The songs of 'Godavari' are also very nice. I hope that Kamalinee will get another Nandi award with this film".
"Godavari film is more romantic as compared to Anand". Said heroine Kamalinee Mukherji. "I am happy to have worked with a great team for the second time. It was great fun working with Sumanth".
Also seen complimenting the director was veteran lyricist Veturi "Sekhar gave me the opportunity to write pure Telugu lyrics, after a long time, for 'Anand'. And with 'Godavari I got another opportunity to do so. K.M. Radha Krishnan has come up with soulful melodies in this album".
Music director K.M. Radha Krishnan "It is easy to compose music for Sekhar Kammula's films. And I would like to thank Praveen and Jaya Kumar for their contribution".
Sridhar Reddy, of Madhura Entertainments which is marketing the music of 'Godavari', said "Madhura Entertainments and 'Anand' started at the same time. But I could not get the audio rights of 'Anand'; if not we (Madhura Entertainments) would have been established as major players two years back it self." He also requested websites to restrain from streaming the music of 'Godavari', "If anybody will do so then legal action will be taken" he warned.
"I have read the script and I am sure that 'Godavari' will become a hit" guest Gopichand said.
