Balakrishna, Nayantara, Srikanth, Sai Kumar and Akkineni Nageswara Rao starrer ‘Sri Ramarajyam’ is veteran director K Baapu’s latest film which is being made by Yalamanchili Saibabu. The first look of this film was unveiled today by Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao and the second look was released by K Raghavendra Rao. Nandamuri Balakrishna released the specially designed Sri Ramarajyam calendar.
This programme was attended by Dr D Ramanaidu, Ilayaraja, K Baapu, Krishnam Raju, Srikanth, Murali Mohan, Kodi Ramakrishna, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Yalamanchili Saibabu, Dr Brahmanandam, Balayya, etc.
Addressing the audience Dr D Ramanaidu said, “There are lot of expectations from the audience for this film which is being directed by Baapu garu. I hope all artists have done justice to their respective roles. I wish this film to become a grand success and create history in Telugu cinema.”
Krishnam Raju said, “The songs have already become big hit. I congratulate Ilayaraja garu for rendering such soothing songs. Jonna Vittula provided excellent lyrics. I did ‘Sardar Dharmanna’ film with Sai Babu garu. Now he is making this prestigious film with a great director like K Baapu garu. Akkineni garu’s presence as Valmiki is auspicious to the film. I’m also glad to see Balayya as Rama in this film. I wish a grand success to this film.”
Ilayaraja said, “The day-to-day happening in the society is cinema. The generation today will get the opportunity to see how Rama was. The songs will be understood only while watching the film.”
Dr Brahmanandam said, “The main person of this film is Sai Babu. We cannot do few things unless receiving blessings from Lord Rama. It’s a brilliant idea of showing Ramayana to this generation. It’s appreciable to think of doing this film with the decedent of Nandamuri family. It’s also wonderful to see an actress like Nayantara in this role. The makers are really lucky to get a person like Akkineni Nageswara Rao for the role of Valmiki. Infact all artists are aptly suitable for all roles. Baapu designs each and every character finely. Balakrishna reminded me of his father in Rama’s get-up. The film was crafted in such a way that it will create wonders which no one can do. I wish many such films to come in the near future.”
“I was very happy when I was asked to be part of Sri Ramarajyam and at the same time I was little tensed also. I worked with Baapu garu in the part. However, this is the first time I’m sharing screen with Balakrishna garu. I thank my producer for offering me the role of Lakshmana. The producers should have guts to attempt such films. If such films become successful it will be like an encouragement for the artists also.”
Lyricist Jonnavittula said, “Baapu garu called me to his house and discussed about the songs in the presence of producer Yalamanchili Saibabu. Saibabu garu wanted the songs to be in lines with ‘Lava Kusa’ songs and listened to what they said for about 5 days. I had to put in lot of efforts to write the songs. Initially I wrote 10 pallavis out of which 3 were okayed by them. It was due to Ilayaraja garu, Balakrishna garu and the film ‘Lava Kusa’ the songs have turned out to be impressive. This movie has been made mainly to teach Ramayanam to the generation today. Ilayaraja garu worked for this film with pure devotion. Baapu has created history as an artist even before entering into films. This film is grabbing everyone’s attention only due to Balakrishna’s performance as Rama. For the past 16 years not a single mythological film was made in Tollywood. I wish this film to become a grand success.”
Producer Yalamanchili Sai Babu said, “Lord Rama has taken away Ramana garu from us. I thank my parents on this occasion. It’s since they gave birth to me I was able to make this film today. I was able to craft this film with the blessings of Lord Rama. I believe that the youth today will watch and appreciate this film. I don’t think I gave pain to Baapu garu at his old age. I wish him to work for another 20 years. Initially I was not sure of this combination. But Balakrishna garu agreed to do this film within 2 minutes of listening to this story. Similarly every artist is aptly suitable to the characters in the film. Another reason for the film’s output to turn out excellent was Ramoji Film City. All of them have worked very hard and maintained punctuality. I thank everyone for listening and appreciating the songs.”
Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao said, “We all are aware how difficult it is to make Ramayanam. It’s possible only for the talented people. 50% of the success lies in Saibabu garu selecting Baapu garu as director of this film. Similarly Ilayaraja’s music is yet another highlight. There are three heroes in this film. While one is Baapu garu, the second is Ilayaraja and then it’s Balakrishna. Ramayanam is a good human drama. Even though I wanted to act till my last breath, I’ll choose only particular roles. Hence I wanted to know if my story in this film will suit the climax part. My role is unique in its own way though there is no navarasalu in it. I entered the film industry with Rama’s role. But I don’t think this will be my last film. There is some connection between mythological roles and Balakrishna’s family. I vote for NTR for Rama’s role. I wish this film will become a grand success.”
Balakrishna said, “Everyone is eager to know about my role in this film. It’s unfortunate that Mullapudi Venkataramana garu is no more between us. He crafted the film excellently. I adopted the mythological roles from my father. Those who don’t know the history of Telugu cinema will talk low about it. Don’t we have good technicians? We named our daughter as Brahmani only after thoroughly knowing the meaning of it. Telugu language is big wealth. I appreciate Sai Babu garu to come up with one such film exactly during the time when our industry is giving way to the meaningless films. I was in Ravanasurudu get-up when he came to me and offered this role in the film. Baapu garu’s direction has already given 50% success to the film. We are happy to see Akkineni Nageswara Rao garu in Valmiki’s role. All artists worked for this film with passion. Ilayaraja garu rendered very good music. Jonnavittula garu wrote beautiful lyrics accordingly. The songs are excellent in this film. All Baapu’s films are uniquely made. I wish this film will also become a big hit. It’s a pride to Telugu cinema when the audience are accepting one such film.”
Murali Mohan, Kaikala Satyanarayana, Kodi Ramakrishna and others also spoke on the dais.
