Director Rathna, speaking at the press meet, urged censor board members not to kill Telugu cinema. He said, “We have faced many obstacles during the production and finally brought the film ‘Katrina Kareena Madhyalo Kamal Haasan’ for the censor process. But the decision of censor board members shocked us. Generally the comet Halley appears every 75 years. But, censor board members have shown us two comets in two months. After completing the censor show, they informed us they are refusing to give censor certificate. A women from the members came to us and said, “It’s really hrd to see such a film in front of others. What’s those scenes and what is that story? Why you people get such ideas?” We don’t know her name. We are really sorry for that. After two days we received refuse letter with a bundle of papers.”
“Later we visited revising committee. Censor chairman and eight members watched the film after15 days. They too given refuse letter. They said that the have some pressure and therefore they did like that. If we have made the film in such a dirty way, audience will definitely refuse the film. After this consecution we submitted the film a tribunal. They watched the film after 60 days. They issued ‘A’ certificate without any cuts,” he added.
Director Rathna opined, “If ‘Katrina Kareena Madhyalo Kamal Haasan’ has no ethics, why it received certificate from tribunal. To me, audience will not take emotions to heart by watching just 2 hr movie. If so, after Mahesh Babu’s ‘Srimanthudu’ many rich people may have adopted small villages and have developed them. After watching NTR’s ‘Janatha Garage’, they may have planted many saplings and have no need for the government to implement Haritha Haram programme. My question is why the film received certificate from tribunal and what is wrong with the censor board members here. I request them not to kill small films.”
Prasad Kumar and Srinu Vijjagiri are jointly producing the film ‘Katrina Kareena Madhyalo Kamal Haasan’ on Navakala banner with the great confidence that Telugu people will always encourage comedy films which were made with new artists and shoestring budget. Rathna is being introduced as director through this film, while Sashank Mouli, Pavani, Mamatha Rahuth are being introduced as hero and heroines respectively.
