Vijay Devarakonda has turned producer with the movie, 'Meeku Maathrame Cheptha'. He is introducing his dear friend, 'Pellichoopulu' director, Tharun Bhascker as the lead actor with this movie. This movie, which also stars Anasuya Bharadwaj, Abhinav Gomatam, Vani Bhojan, Avanthika Mishra among others, releases on 1st November. Vijay Devarakonda talked about the film's journey, why he has turned producer and more in this interview.

I'm not apt
Shammeer Sultan and Arjun first met me after the release of 'Pellichoopulu'. I saw their short films and was impressed by their work. They did good short films with a very low budget. Though I agreed to do 'Meeku Maathrame Cheptha', after some time, I felt that I am not apt for the lead role. But I wanted to make this movie and turned producer.

He's a good actor
Tharun has got a very good comedy timing. When we were working on 'Pellichoopulu', he used to enact some scenes and many times I felt that he was acting better than us. I thought he would be very apt for the lead role in 'Meeku Maathrame Cheptha' and approached him. He has done a great job.

Will enjoy
I couldn't stop laughing during the narration and I'm sure the audiences will also enjoy it. Coming out of the theaters, audience will feel that we have made a very good film.

Never involved
I was only involved during the scripting stage of the film. But once the script was finalized, I was never involved. I went to the sets only once.

On Investment
I've invested 70 percent of what I have earned so far through films on 'Meeku Maathrame Cheptha'. My father wanted me to focus only on acting and asked me to not produce films. But I said the script is good enough to produce it. I didn't go ahead blindly. I believed in the script and my team. Shammeer and Arjun have done a fantastic job. I've never seen such hardworking people on my sets. I'm very satisfied with the output.

Next projects
I'm almost done with the shoot of 'World Famous Lover'. The shoot of Puri Jagannadh's 'Fighter' will begin in January. 'Hero' and a film with Shiva Nirvana are also in pipeline.
