Producer Suryadevara Naga Vamsi is happy that 'Jersey' has won two National Awards. In this interview, he talks about the success, 'Rang De' and more. He also talks about the Pawan Kalyan-Rana Daggubati movie and when the Jr NTR-Trivikram Srinivas movie will go on the floors.

We did expect a National Award. Last year, due to the pandemic, the recognition got delayed. Since I am awaiting the release of 'Rang De' this week and Nani is out of town, we are yet to celebrate the success. We will hold a celebration next week once Nani returns. I expected a National Award for both Nani and Gowtam Tinnanuri.

This is the first time that our banner has won a National Award. So, we are extremely happy. I don't know whether I am the youngest producer to win an award.

I appreciate Nani for trusting the subject. He was ready to play a father to a 7-year-old boy without worrying about image issues. The element of cricket was an add-on. Nani okayed the script in the first sitting itself. I appreciate director Gowtam Tinnanuri on this occasion.

I have never consciously produced a message-oriented movie. Even 'Jersey' is about human emotions.

Sithara Entertainments is looked after more by Babai. I take care of Haarika & Hassine Creations more. Haarika and Haasine are the names of my sisters. When we produced 'Julayi', the name was supposed to be only for that movie. But our association with Trivikram garu and the banner has continued since then.

The Telugu remake of 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum' with Pawan Kalyan garu and Rana Daggubati is 40% complete. We will wrap up the shoot by the end of May. The film will release either in August or September. We have roped in Aishwarya Rajesh as Rana's pair. We are yet to finalize Power Star's heroine. Trivikram Srinivas garu is taking care of the dialogues because it's not an easy thing to strike a balance between the two characters.

The 30th movie of Jr NTR garu will go on the floors at the end of April or in May. Only the director (Trivikram Srinivas) and hero have been finalized.

I don't fear a second wave of coronavirus. A lot of elders and people with co-morbidities are already vaccinated. Youngsters can withstand the virus. I don't think there is going to be a lockdown this time. Last week, my wife contracted Covid-19. She recovered from it within a week.

Once 'Vakeel Saab' releases and does well without major hiccups due to the virus, the industry will get the boost to release other big-ticket movies in the coming months. A number of post-lockdown releases have done very well at the box-office.

I am very happy for 'Maharshi' winning two National Awards. The movie talked about agricultural marketing. It's a relevant topic.

'Varudu Kavalenu', the remake of 'Kappela' (working title is 'Butta Bomma'), 'Naruni Brathuku Natana', a rom-com with Bellamkonda Suresh garu's younger son are the other important films under our banner. 'Kshanam' director Ravikanth Perepu was planning a basketball-based film. But nothing has been finalized as yet.
