Inspirational individuals are scarce to come, especially in these days. Pernia Qureshi is one such person whose life story inspires many. She was the Speaker of the Day for the first meeting of the Young FICCI Ladies Organisation (YFLO) for the year 2017-2018.
Fashion Designer-turned-stylist-actor-author, Pernia, Qureshi was the speaker today for the interactive session titled “Come Face to face with the many faces of Pernia Qureshi” organised by YFLO. It was organised at Hotel Park Hyatt. 150 plus YFLO members participating in the same. TheFashion Designer Diva of Hyderabad, Anushree Reddy moderated the session.
Interacting with media prior to the interactive session, Pernia Qureshi said if there anything that requires a change in the Indian Fashion Industry it is “Professionalism”. It is because of this we are very backward in fashion when compared to western world. They are well organised and we are not, she added.
Fashion Designing is a heritage for us in India. Indian Fashion Industry need not match up to any industry. We are special. World is inspired by our crafts, fabric, embroidery, heritage. What we need is just ‘Professionalism’. Once it is ensured the industry will go places, Pernia said talking to the media.
When asked to comment on Indian Politicians who dress well, she said, Praful Patel, Narendra Modi, Omar Abdullah and Hema Malini, she replied.
Replying to another questing, her dream celebrity whom she aspires to design clothes is Bollywood film star Rekha. She is so fabulous that she can pull up anything, Qureshi added.
Fashion Entrepreneur, Actress, Stylist, Author, Pernia Quereshi commenting on her future plans informed that she is embarked on India’s biggest Fashion event, details of which she said would reveal in August. An international Fashion event is also on the cards, she announced.

“My connection to Hyderabad is through Kuchipudi Dance. I’m a trained Kuchipudi dancer; I love to dance. I learned to dance from renowned dance couple Raja-Radha Reddy, who belong to this place”, Qureshi, informed
Pernia offered tips on how to dress their body. She explained various body types, which include: Apple Frame, Hourglass, Pear Shaped, Petitite and Inverted Triangle Apple Frame is the typical Indian Body Type, she said. Such women chose such clothes which cover their middle part of the body. Madhuri Dixit is a classical example for such a body type she explained. Hourglass is the beautiful body type, she added. Everyone in the Bollywood have this bodytype. Petite is a rare body type in India. It is a tricky body type, she observed. Anushka Sharma is a classic example for Inverted Triangle body. This body type people have broad shoulders, she explained. Among men Hrithik Roshan has Inverted Triangle body. All the athletes have this body type.
Saree is a good garment for any type of the body. You need to drape it well, she added. Saree is the versatile garment works well with every body type and shape, she reiterated.

Guided by her immaculate sense of style, Qureshi turned her passion for Indian fashion into her profession, she adds.
“My career began small as an intern with fashion magazines as a stylist in New York for Ann Caruso, a contributing editor at Harper’s Bazaar. I have also done freelance work with Conde Nast. I worked independently. I got an opportunity to work in Delhi with fashion designers such as JJ Valaya and Tarun Tahiliani. I worked on their fashion shows, books related to looks,” Pernia Qureshi says.
