Hyderabad, June 18th 2010: Hyderabad, ‘the city of pearls’, is hosting one of the country’s prominent B2B jewellery trade shows – the Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair 2010, from June 18th to June 20th. The fair, being hosted by UBM India, is also supported by APTPC and other associations such as Twin Cities Jewellers’ Association, Gem and Jewellery Trade Federation among others. This one of a kind business platform acts as a professional meeting point for jewellers across the world as well as boosts the jewellery business of South India, invariably the largest jewellery market in India. Honorable Minister of Major Industry, Commerce and Export Promotion and Food Processing Mr. K. Lakshmi Narayana inaugurated the 3 day exhibition.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. K. Lakshmi Narayana said “I am pleased to inaugurate the third edition of the Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair. Since its inception, the fair has been extremely well – received by the local industry. South India has a lucrative potential for new business opportunities not only in India, but globally as well. The fair will certainly develop and promote trade and also ensure further global exposure. I look forward to further editions of the fair in the years to come.”

The third edition of the fair is exclusively a Business to Business edition where in the fair caters to manufacturers, traders, retailers and wholesalers in the jewellery industry. The three day fair is being held at the Hyderabad International Convention Centre, Novotel. With 120 exhibiting companies from India, Japan, Germany, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, USA and Thailand the exhibition is expecting over 5,000 trade buyers and it already has over 2,500 pre-registered trade buyers from across the globe. With pay to attend entry it is open only to professionals from the gems & jewellery and relevant trade. As the first two editions have been well received and appreciated by the industry, it is expected that the third edition will play a major role in the growth and development of the jewellery industry.

The 3rd Edition of HJF will provide a range of options for a buyer to select from and replenish their stock before the key buying season. Visitors at the exhibition will be mesmerized by the wide range of light weight ethnic jewellery from manufacturers in Kerala, exquisite diamond jewellery with the finest workmanship from Hong Kong, Thailand Mumbai and Bangalore; Mughal jewellery with the flair of Nawabi lifestyle from Hyderabad, delicate designs of Kundan Meena jewellery from Jaipur, Fine jewellery from Japan & Germany and an array of diamonds and gemstones from United States, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Mumbai and Jaipur.

HJF 2010 will also present informative seminars and panel discussions on several issues relevant to the jewellery industry on 19th June 2010. Eminent speakers such as Mr. Anil D Shah, COO of Venus Jewel, Ms. Nirupa Bhatt, Managing Director, India & Middle East and Mr. Arjun Pansari, Instructor - GIA India Laboratory Pvt Ltd, and Mr. Pritesh Jhaveri, Director – EGL India will enlighten the audience on topics such as ‘How to determine the value of diamonds’, ‘Know your gemstones’ and ‘Importance of Certification for trade’ among other topics. A panel discussions will be conducted by Mr. Vinod Hayagriv, Chairman of the All India Gems & Jewellery Trade Federation, on concerns such as ‘How to detect Iridium in Gold jewellery, and ‘How to motivate your staff’. All the seminars and panel discussions begin from 12 pm onwards, and will enable jewellers to have a better understanding of the industry.
