About Ikebana:
Ikebana is a traditional art form of Japan, which involves the creative arrangement of flowers, branches and leaves in various combinations. The arrangements conform to certain rules and are asymmetrically shaped closely resembling nature. They are graceful and rhythmic with beautiful tines. Ikebana came into origin with the introduction of Buddhism to Japan more than 600 years ago. The art form evolved from mere offerings of flowers to Buddha in temples at the attar, to many styles and schools. Each school has its own specific theories and principles. Practicing Ikebana helps one to create a bond with natural surroundings, become patient, quiet and tolerant and inspires to appreciate all other art forms.
About Hyderabad Chanter of Ohara School of Ikebana:
We are a voluntary, non-profit organization aiming at spreading the art of Ikebana (Japanese flower arrangement) and awareness of nature. The Ohara School Is one of the very popular and widely spread schools of Ikebana.
In Hyderabad the Ohara School was started by Late Grand Master Horyu Meena Anantnarayan way back in 1964, inaugurated by the then Governor Pattam Nanu PHlai with very few members.
In 1983 she started Ohara study group which was a prelude to chapter. Through her dedication she was able to start Ohara Hyderabad Chapter in 1988. Since then the chapter has become very active and has held many exhibitions, conducted workshops and had demonstrations and very interesting programs. At present the Chapter President is Ms. Jaishree Shunmugaraj. The Hyderabad Chapter has 350 members and conducts monthly programs, workshops, demonstrations etc.
“GURU SAMHITHA” - Annual Ikebana Exhibition:
The Hyderabad Chapter of Ohara School of ikebana is organizing its Annual Ikebana Exhibition - “GURU SAMHITHA” on 30th- 31st March 2018 at Film Nagar Cultural Centre which will be inaugurated by Dr. Anita B.Shah (Mueseologist) at 11.00 A.M. The exhibition will be open to public after inauguration for two days in order to spread awareness of the art.
