Hyderabad, 26thJune, 2018: Hyderabad Runners Society and Bharti Airtel together with the Govt. of Telangana announced the launch of the 8th Edition of the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon. The Government is supporting the annual sporting event organized by the Hyderabad Runners Society, which celebrated eleven years of promoting active lifestyles and promoting running as the preferred form of fitness activity.
The 2018 edition of this annual sporting extravaganza is gearing up for a major announcement – certification by AIMS (Association of International Marathons and Distance Races - http://www.aims-worldrunning.org/aims.html ). Any certified AIMS marathon route allows runners to qualify for world major marathons. AIMS has over 450 member races in over 120 countries with 16 in India.
This annual sporting event will be held on 25th & 26th August with active participation of over 23,000 runners from across the country and overseas. Considered to be among the leading & challenging city marathons in India, this sporting event also marks the beginning of the Marathon Season in India and aims to bring the 427 years old historic city of Hyderabad alive!!

Rama Rao, Hon’ble Minister for IT, Commerce & Industries, Mines & Geology, MA & UD and NRI Affairs - Govt. of Telangana, Mr. Avneet Singh Puri, CEO, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Bharti Airtel Ltd, Mr. Abhijeet Madnurkar, Race Director, Lieutenant Commander, Ms. Aishwarya Boddapti were present at the event.
As one of the most popular and highly rated marathons in India, returns for the eighth year, over 23,000 runners, health & fitness enthusiasts, volunteers, medical personnel, city officials and police will come together and energize this sporting extravaganza with a curtain raiser – 5K Run on Saturday August 25thand Marathon on Sunday - August 26th 2018, the 10K, Half Marathon (21.095 km) & Full Marathon (42.195 km) will take place.
