Hyderabad, July 1st, 2018: An amazing feat of "Blindfold Motorcycle Riding" was performed by world-renowned magician, Jadugar Anand, today on city roads, to drive the point of safe driving. This spectacular performance on the city roads was kickstarted at the Sanjeevaiah Park, and traversed the busy traffic of Necklace Road, NTR Garden road and back. Jadugar Anand was blinded with pieces of cardboard and cotton held together with a band of black cloth wrapped over, a hood was placed over the face of Anand before he was guided to the motorbike by the volunteers.
Anand covered the stretch by riding comfortably at normal speed, negotiating the crowded traffic and reached the destination safely. At that peak traffic hour with people going about with their Sunday errands, finding a blindfolded driver alongside negotiating the traffic and riding safely was astounding to many. Several of them amazed at this stunt, slowed down to watch him pass by and applauded his skill. He was also cheered by excited spectators who were present all along the route.
Jadugar Anand rode from Sanjeevaiah Park to NTR Gardens and ended his daring performance back at Sanjeevaiah Park. On completing the arduous task, Anand said, he staged the stunt to especially urge the negligent and offensive drivers to follow traffic rules and to make the roads a safe place for all.
Jadugar Anand later attributed the unusual skill to a combination of meditation and concentration. He pointed out that when blind folded riders can navigate safely on busy roads, accidents involving people with sight can be attributed to sheer negligence and are unpardonable. He advised the vehicle drivers in the city to just concentrate and follow the rules to make the roads a safe place for all.
About Jadugar Anand
Anand, a child prodigy, was born with an innate ability to perform magic, by the age of 7. As he grew and perfected his techniques, the audience comprising of young and old was overwhelmed. His bag full of tricks earned him the title of Jadugar Anand at the tender age. He is self-learned to the core and is courage and determination personified.
His efforts to exhibit his talent on bigger platforms, paid off in the year 1978 at Hollywood, where he bettered the best of the World's best magicians and was awarded The Gold Medal. Again, in the year 1980 at Brussels, he repeated the feat and was titled "The Grand Prix". And he stamped over all the stiffest competition from the best magicians of 150 countries globally, at Montreal in the year 1982, to be awarded "Magi of the East". Very recently, the Govt, of Madhya Pradesh bestowed the Award of "Wizard of the Century"!
At the age of 19, he broke the World Record for UNDERWATER ESCAPE when he escaped from a box in which he was sealed and thrown in the river Narmada at Jabalpur! At the age of 22, he rode a 250cc motorcycle BLINDFOLDED, from Indore to Bhopal, a distance of 200 kilometers in just under 180 minutes, creating another World Record in the process!
Anand's talents and achievements were duly recognized in all the advanced countries of the world. He has performed more than 36000 shows in more than 36 countries of the Americas, Europe, Asia, Australia and Africa, which itself is a World Record for maximum number of shows performed by any magician ever! This man, Anand, is Indian Magic personified in the eyes of the World.
Currently the National President of All India Magic Federation, Anand is seen by the fraternity as the last hope for the dying art of magic. He dreams of building a Magic Academy of global standards in the capital of every province of our country, India. It pains him that the government has largely ignored magic as an art. He appeals for more support at least in form of some Tax waivers for this art.
None of his achievements or fame has touched Anand. He remains a down-to-earth person who never forgot his roots. He is hard-working and god fearing. He worships India and its diversities and is just another Proud Indian when not on stage.
