Hyderabad, August 2020; Avinash Gandi, a Hyderabad-based innovator, Robotics Engineer developed India’s first indigenously Smart Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation Device INFINITY 360. Its Potent sanitization device, highly effective against Coronavirus. He designed and developed the device in less than a month.
The device virtually displayed at the State-level ‘Exhibition of Innovation’ or ‘Intinta Innovator’ at Independence Day celebrations. Speaking to Media Persons, Avinash said, “Studies on Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) virus has revealed that UV light is effective in killing the virus. That inspired me to develop a cost-effective UV device.” The device can be developed at a cost of Rs 50,000 against similar models worth Rs 20 lakh, he added.
For long, UV-C radiation of 254nm has been used by pharmaceutical manufacturers, hospitals, and space agencies to destroy microorganisms that linger in the air or stick to surfaces. Importantly, in this context, many recent studies have confirmed that UV-C radiation in specific doses can effectively inactivate the Coronavirus. But, as exposure to the UV-C radiation can be hazardous to humans, I developed a smart system that eliminates the possibility of human exposure.
Having eight UV-ray emitting lights of 40 watts each, the device can disinfect a room within 10 minutes. The innovator developed three different models to kill the germs and viruses. The top-end model can kill air-borne or surface-laid viruses in just six seconds. It can be turned on with a mobile application, so that no-one gets directly exposed to the UV light. It has four sensors to detect human movement. If any movement is encountered it is automatically switched off to avoid exposing people to hazardous UV rays, he explained.
On the strength of this idea and with seed capital from SVR Ventures - a venture capital firm, spearheaded by Mr. S. Venkat Reddy, Avinash established Infinity Labs, put together a team, and in just 45 days, built, patented, and even acquired certifications for INFINITY360 - India’s first indigenously developed Smart Ultraviolet Germicidal Irradiation Device - the only device of its kind entirely designed, tested, and manufactured in Telangana”
Avinash claimed that it was the only patented device that had been completely developed in the city.
