Telangana Festival at The Park Hyderabad

The Park Hyderabad in association with Department of culture and language, Department of Tourism and Telangana Stores Celebrates, 'Telangana Festival' from Feb 18th- March 1st 2015.

The 10 days long festival at The Park, Hyderabad will focus on highlighting various hues and flavors of Telangana Culture, food and arts and craft. Department of Culture and Language, Department of Tourism and Telangana stores have joined hands with The Park to promote and showcase Telangana Food and Culture throughout the festival.

Honorable IT Minister K.T Rama Rao has kindly obiliged to inaugurate the festival on Feb 18th, 6:30 PM. Accompanying him, will be the Excise and Prohibiton, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister T Padma Rao Goud and the Tourism Minister Azmeera Chandulal.
The evening will commence with the below list of Cultural performances along with with a wide display of Arts and Handicrafts by Telangana Store.

Chintu Yaksha Dance(Duration 20 mins):
Chintu Yaksha is a platform for artistes to perform and connoisseurs to see and listen and appreciate the ancient art forms. It is also an endeavour to preserve and promote the uniqueness, purity and diversity of the country's performing arts In the past, artistes like Pandit Jasraj, Pandit Shivkumar Sharma, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Subha Mudgal, Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia, Sivamani, Shankar Mahadevan and others have performed

Dappu Dance (Duration 20 Mins):
Dappu is an integral part of the folk dances of Telangana . This is a group dance performed by the Harijan community in which the dancers place the instrument on their shoulders or hang it in front and beat rhythmically on it with two sticks which produce a vibrating sound. The dancers tie ankle bells and step rhythmically to the sounds. This lively folk dance has its origin in the Nizamabad district.

Kommu Kova (Duration 20 mins):
This form of dance is performed by both men and women who wear colorful and ethnic tribal costume. The main attraction of the dance is the Mayura Nritya or the Peacock dance that is performed by the males wearing crowns made of peacock feathers and holding a dolu / dhol.

ORRU Kathatlon (Duration 20 Mins):
Orrii Kathn or Oggukatha IsĀ«) traditional folklore singing praising and narrating the stories of Hindu gods Mallana. Beerappa and Yellama It originated among the Yadav and Kuruma Golla communities, who devoted themselves to the singing of ballads in praise of Lord Shiva (also called Malllkarjuna). These tradition-loving and ritual-performing community moves from place to place, narrating the stories of their caste gods. Oggus are the traditional priests of the Yadavas and perform the marriage of Mallanna with Bhramaramba.

Qwawali by Warsi Brothers (Duration 20 Mins)
Warsi Brothers are an Indian Qawwali musical group, consisting of brothers Nazeer Ahmed Khan Warsi and Naseer Ahmed Khan Warsi along with eight accompanists. They are based in Hyderabad. Warsi Brothers carry on their legacy by touring all over the world and are known for their intense performances. They perform Amir Khusro's qawwalis in their classical style. They perform at the dargah of Syed Shah Yousufuddin in Nampally every Thursday night from midnight.

Telangana Food Festival at Aish (Feb 18th- March 1st)
Guests can enjoy an amalgamation of the hottest dishes at the lunch and Dinner Buffet at our speciality restaurant Aish. On offer will be a lavish array of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes which promises to tantalise your taste buds with an ambience which is ideal for some quality bonding with friends and family. Some of the authentic Telangana Delicacies which will be prepared by Chefs during the festival include- Kalchina Mamsam, Gadwal Mamsam Shorva, Baghara annam, Sarva Pindi, Orugallu Pacchi Pulsu and many more delicacies.
