The Department of Mass Communication, St. Francis College for Women announces the third edition of First Cut - A One day Film Festival on 20th February, 2015 from 10:30 am to 4:00 pm. The purpose of this event is to motivate young amateur film makers to exhibit their talents, strengthen their critical thinking abilities, give their ideas a voice, engage in the educational process and learn to interact in a work environment with other professionals and the community.
There are three competitions organized for the day and the judges of each of the competitions are experts in their respective fields of Media.

CHIEF GUEST
Nandini Reddv: After veteran actress turned director Vijaya Nirmala, a long gap was seen for lady directors in Telugu film industry. Finally Nandini Reddy broke the mold mihAla Modalaindi movie and this film gave boost up for more lady directors to test their luck. She got herself introduced to Gangaraju Gunnam through a common friend. She worked for his movie ‘Little Soldiers’ in the direction department.
After Little Soldiers got released cinematographer Rasool Ellore introduced her to Krishna Vamsi. She was idle for a year and got an offer to work for a film titled ‘Santhi Santhi Santhi’ in Kannada. She had later become an integral part of Krishna Vamsi’s team from Chandralekha to Shakti (Hindi remake of Anthahpuram). She was awarded the Nandi for Best film as a Director for ALA MODALAINDI and The Hyderabad Times Film Awards 2011- Best Screenplay for Ala Modalaindi.

VIJAY KUMAR KONDA:He is one among the upcoming directors.He started a team called “Sneha-Sahithya” and used to do serials for radio.Later he shifted his focus onto tv and made serials like Vennela,Chirunawu etc.He shifted to film industry after completing his degree.”Gundejaari Gallanthayyinde” is his first movie which went on to become a smashing hit.He teams up with Naga Chaitanya for his second movie “Oka Laila Kosam”.

SWAPNA. Just like the celebrities in film industry and TV industry there are also some celebrities in the electronic media circuit. Notable among them is Swapna. Known for her verbal eloquence and the natural charm. Swapna started her career in TV anchoring with tv9 Telugu did popular shows like Shara Maamule. She later moved to radio as the regional programming head of 92.7 Big F.M. She hosts interview shows including Dil Se and presents prime time news. Presently working with Sakshi TV. She interviewed over 160 celebrities on the Programme; Close Encounters. She also hosted RGV's "Romanism".
CELEBRITY GUESTS
Varun Sandesh : Varan Sandesh Jeedigunta is a south Indian actor who started his film career through Sekhar Kammula's film Happy Days in 2007. He acted in 19 films some of them being Happy Days, Kotha Bangara Lokam, Evaraina Epudaina etc . The last acted in Paddanandi Premalo Mari.
Harshavardhan Rane : Harshavardhan Rane is a telugu film actor best known for Thakita Thakita in the year 2010. He has acted in seven Telugu films including Telugu psychological thriller Maaya, Comedy movie Brother of Bommali.
Adith Arun : Adith Arun is an Indian film actor who has appeared in Tamil and Telugu language films. He started his career with several short films and over twenty shows on a semi- professional level including shows for Madras Players and Boardwalkers. His movies are Katha (Telugu) in 2009 and Inidhu Inidhu (Tamil) in 2010.
Shamna Kasim : Shamna Kasim also known by the stage name Poorna, is an Indian film actress and model. She started her career as a classical dancer. She made her acting debut in the 2004 Malayalam film Manju Polora Penkutty and Telugu film Sri Maha Lakshmi. She acted in 35 fims including 6 Telugu films. At present acted with Varan Sandesh in the film titled Nuwala Nenila.

CURTAIN RAISER
PG students from the Department of Mass Communication, St Francis College For Women, is now hosting the third edition of First Cut-A one day Film Festival for all the budding "Me di aw alas" of the twin cities on 20th February 2015 from 10:30am to 4pm. It is a grandiose and enthralling event as it provides a platform for students to compete, interact and share ideas in the vast arena of media. This is one of the best inter-collegiate Media events that the city has ever seen. We are organizing three competitions for the day and as judges we have exemplary faces with wealth of experience from the media.
The event will be attended by many eminent personalities. Apart from film screening, the day is also going to mesmerize the audience gathered, with some extraordinary shows, like Walk like a Star etc.
There are 3 categories for participation: Short Film, Public Service Announcement and Documentary.
