Art Gallery by 3 IBDP students of Oakridge International School

Hyderabad, 27th March, 2015: The Visual Arts students of Oakridge International School have gathered together to put up an exhibit displaying the results of an intensive curriculum that stretched across a span of two years, at the 2nd edition of the Art showcase by Oakridge students 'Infinite Journey' on Friday at Kalakriti Art Gallery, Banjara Hills. As young learners, these students have been exposed to an Art curriculum that has helped them grow and evolve into the artists that they are today. Over the past couple of years, they have each explored themes that deal with Zodiac signs, Dreams, Expressions, etc., and have investigated several art movements such as Expressionism, Cubism and Surrealism.

Amandha Goriparthi dealt with the world of Dreams as a theme. She loves looking at how the human conscious and mind works and believes that studying Visual Arts at Oakridge has helped her imbibe, understand and execute Art in its various forms. She recognizes Art as an excellent medium for self-expression with a passion, and acknowledges that today, thanks to Social Media and technology, everyone is an artist in their own right.

Nikhil Jain views Art as a medium to investigate the roles we play as wanderers in an expanding universe, and enjoys exploring the vivid imagery and stories of the zodiacs and the constellations of the night sky. As a young exhibiter, he aims to connect his audience with the spaces and settings that they cannot otherwise perceive.

Sahiti Bonam on the other hand loves to engage with vivid expressions. She has explored the emotions and expressions behind the Kathakali Art form, with a great fascination and emphasis on eyes. Sahiti has learnt to relate with various expressionists and has used colour psychology to support her works. She believes that eyes are the most expressive and truthful part of the human body and wished to further investigate on this topic in the future.

The evening was truly one to remember with all three students delightfully sharing their insights and views. Also present on the occasion were Guests of Honor - Artists Mr. Vaikuntam & Mr. Surya Prakash; Ms. Rohini Iyanger, Art Critic & Historian and Mr. Gustav J Gropp, Principal, Oakridge Newton campus, Gachibowli.
