Hyderabad, 5 September 2013 FICCI Ladies Organization (FLO), a national body with the prime objective of women empowerment though the promotion of entrepreneurship and managerial excellence is conducts an interactive session on "Women, Consumerism and Social Change in India" by Mrs. Rama Bijapurkar, one of the India's most respected and acclaimed Thought Leader on Market Strategy and Consumer Economy. The session organised exclusively for FLO members at Hyderabad highlighted the changes and behavioral patterns that women have brought about changes to the Consumer Markets of India.

Mrs. Rama Bijapurkar is one of India's most respected thought leaders on market strategy and India's consumer economy and a keen commentator on social and cultural change in liberalizing India. She is a strategy consultant and works with an impressive list of Indian and global companies, helping them across sectors. Rama Bijapurkar also serves as an independent director on the boards of several of India's blue chip companies. She presently ,serves on the boards of CRISIL (S&P India), Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services; ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and on the governing board of IIM Ahmedabad and Jodhpur. Past boards include Axis Bank, Bharat Petroleum, Infosys Ltd., Titan Industries, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.

Rama also writes extensively in the media and is a dominant voice on issues relating to India's business, consumers and Polity. She is also author of acclaimed books viz. "We are like that only: Understanding the Logic of Consumer India"; "Winning in the Indian Market"; "Understanding the Transformation of Consumer India"; "Customer in the boardroom? Crafting Customer-Based Business Strategy" and a book based on the course she teaches at IIM and her consulting experiences.

FICCI Ladies Organisation in association with British High Commission is organizing yet another interactive session on "Women: Untapped Drivers of Green Economic Growth?" with Baroness Sandip Verma, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, UK on September 7th at Hotel Taj Krishna, Hyderabad. Baroness Verma, will address the members of FLO and the audience and share her insights on Sustainable Green Business' & Women Entrepreneurs, issues concerning Energy, Climate Change and the critical need for greater investments in women. She will also touch upon the Benefits of Gender Balance in Climate Change Mitigation Investments and Sustainable Energy Initiatives for women, informed Ms. Jyotsna Angara.

FICCI Ladies Organisation (FLO) Hyderabad Chapter began its operations in the year 2002 and now has a membership base of about 400. FLO is a division of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), which is the apex body of Industry and Chambers of Commerce in India. FLO is one of the most prestigious pan-India business organizations with 10 chapters and nearly 3200 members across India, committed to working towards women empowerment through business women development and capacity building initiatives besides other programmes. Some of the services and activities of the FLO include: Personality Development, Awareness Programs, Training, Business Consultancy, Networking and Recognition. FLO also has Young FLO (YFLO), a forum for the career women, it is a community of career women between 20 and 39.
