Nata Kireeti Rajendra Prasad launches "Bhavi Taraanni Kapadagalama" a book authored by renowned Sports Medicine specialist Dr Bakhtiar Choudhary

A book on ways to rescue future generations from unhealthy lifestyles by adopting simple time tested practices

Hyderabad, July 9th, 2015: Nata Kireeti Dr. G Rajendra Prasad, MAA President, released the book "Bhavi Taraanni Kapadagalama" authored by Prof Dr Maj. S Bakhtiar Choudhary (retd), on Thursday at Film chamber of commerce, (Film Nagar Club Complex), Jubilee Hills. Sri T Chalapathi Rao (Babai), was also present on the occasion. The book focuses on ways to rescue children from serious ailments by adopting simple time tested practices.

Multifaceted personality, former Army Officer, Doctor, Sportsman, Philanthropist, Author, TV Presenter and a renowned Sports Medicine Specialist, all rolled into one, Prof Dr Maj. S Bakhtiar Choudhary (retd), authored this book more out of his concern for the future generations, who are fast adopting unhealthy lifestyles. It is an attempt to awaken the current and the future generations to the perils involved and rid themselves of the ill practices. His thoughtful contents in the book will coax the parents and make them to ponder over the current practices and help them to reinvent the repository of simple time tested practices our ancestors passed on to us.

Dr Bakhtiar Choudhary has been working towards empowering the citizens and create an 'Health Aware Society.' As part of this mission he has contributed innumerable articles on various health related aspects, created health programs for electronic media, delivered health talks for varied audience across the country. This well researched book Bhavi Taraanni Kapadagalama is close to his heart considering it being an attempt by him to educate and rescue the future generations from dreaded ailments like Thyroid, Diabetes, Cancer and many other diseases.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajendra Prasad said, this is not a book but a document of well researched Scientific data and the information has to go into the public. I don't have the habit of reading books, but just wanted to glance through the book, but ended up reading the entire book. It highlights the need for being exposed to Sun light and the importance of vitamin 'D'. The reason for our elders being healthy till old age was this exposure to Sun light and the cause for today's youth becoming victims of diseases at a young age being minimal exposure to Sun light. He said, what nature is offering bountifully in the form of sunlight should be availed by all of us. Vitamin 'D' is a gift from the nature for mankind he said. Sri Chalapathi Rao said, even if one practices 50% of what has been written in the book, the benefit would be enormous and children will be healthy.

According to Dr Choudhary, there were many healthy practices and life style habits aiding us to keep at bay serious disease, a few decades ago. Modern life left no choices for those positive things and instead India has become the centre of excellence for disease. This reader friendly small Telugu book narrates the transition of habits and health practices resulting in the current health status of the populace. It highlights several minute aspects long ignored by this generation like importance of exposure to sunlight in human life and how Vitamin ‘D’ regulates our life. The book has tables specifying the exposure of sunlight for different age groups depending on their skin complexion.

Prof Dr Maj. S Bakhtiar Choudhary (retd), MD (Switzerland), D.Litt. (Sri Lanka), Ph.D (USA), has always believed in giving back to the community and contributed enormously as an Army Officer, Doctor, Sportsman, Philanthropist, by writing in many dailies of the country, as popular expert faculty in most television channels on healthcare issues. He published two coffee table books on birds, Parenting Fit-Kid for parents, booklets of Cricket conditioning, Obesity and Heart disease.

He has developed an exclusive health promotion TV programme “Dr B Show” where he anchored the reality health show. He is considered as an authority in Ergonomics, Fitness training and Fitness Nutrition.

Dr. Bakhtiar has contributed original research with regard to medical problems related to IT professionals, fitness of school children, housewives and environmental studies; has many publications to his credit, and has experience in conducting many National & International conferences, symposia and seminars.

He served Indian Army and Apollo Hospitals a decade each. Currently he is the Director of Hyderabad Spine Clinics, Hyderabad Sports Medicine Education and Research Foundation and visiting faculty to many premier institutions of the country responsible for training of IPS, IAS & IRS officers and many Universities.

He has represented many National & International sports teams as sports medicine team doctor including Cricket, Boxing, Rowing, Athletics, Hockey, and many other Sports. He treated many world-class players, Mike Gating, VVS Laxman and PT Usha are some of them. He also treated many celebrities like Sri Chandrababu Naidu, Sri Nandamuri Balakrishna, Sri Venkatesh, Dr Rajendra Prasad and Sri Anil kapoor.

Dr Choudhary served India as a President of Indian Federation of Sports Medicine (AP), President of Indian Association Occupational Health (AP) and Vice president of Life saving society of India. He discovered many new diseases related to occupational health and was awarded prestigious “Sir Ardeshar Lal Dalal Oration Award", Dr CKR Oration Award for his research in Occupational Health. He was awarded with Hall of Fame award and holds a Guinness book nomination for adventure sports.

He is a reputed painter, photographer, dancer, horticulturist, animal lover, wildlife conservator and educationist. He has always been a celebrity in Indian media.
