Hyderabad, August 15th, 2015: Sixty bicycle riders led by popular para-cyclist Aditya Mehta completed the grueling four day, 570 Kms bicycle ride - 'THE INFINITY RIDE 2015' from Bangalore to Hyderabad, on Independence day. The ride was organised to raise awareness and funds for athletes with disabilities. Celebs & prominent citizens led by Regina Cassandra, Tejaswi Madiwada, Sanjjana & Mansi Gulati, felicitated the riders comprising of 30 BSF personnel and 30 riders from Aditya Mehta Foundation at a Grand reception on Saturday at Inorbit Mall.
The highlight of the ride was Aditya Mehta undertaking the entire ride using his single leg, without putting his prosthetic leg to use at all and the BSF personnel joining the ride to commemorate BSF's Golden Jubilee Celebrations.
Absolute apathy towards para-athletes on the part of Corporates, Governments, NGOs, individual philanthropists, moved me and spurred me to build awareness about my fellow para-athletes' special needs. Through my foundation - Aditya Mehta Foundation, I have been working towards the cause of para-athletes and this ride was to reinforce the cause, says Aditya Mehta.
Speaking on the occasion Regina said, Something about the cause Aditya Mehta has taken up has really moved me, that specially disabled athletes are also making a mark and they also need the support to accomplish glory. This made me to join the ride for two days from Kurnool to Hyderabad. Infinite ride should be held next year also and I will do the full run, Regina added. Sanjjana said, it's a good cause, Aditya Mehta with his works has been a huge inspiration, he rode on his one leg. Through his foundation he is helping specially disabled, which is really inspiring, she added.
Aditya Mehta Foundation launched with the noble intention of aiding fellow para-athletes, has been working tirelessly since its inception to identify and support the needy Indian para athletes with financial and moral support. As part of this initiative the foundation has supported eight para athletes from different parts of India, till date.
