Hyderabad, August 19, 2015….An year old Telangana Chamber of Events Industry(TCEI), a not for profit professional trade body, which is an umbrella organization of Event Management, Wedding Planners, Entertainers, Exhibitions, Sound /Light/Video, Production, Venues, Caterers and other facilitators organized a gala industry event—“TECI Event Excellence Awards 2015” here in city at Hitex on Tuesday night Termed as the event of the events industry by the events industry for the events industry, it got a overwhelming response from their industry colleagues with over 600 gracing the awards night. Welcoming the gathering President Surat Singh Malhotra said we event industry are one. Every participant in thisawards is a winner. Participation itself is a confidence you have exhibited. Participation is more important than winning. We all have come in into event industry to make our dreams a reality. You must work hard to achieve them, he said. Events without entertainment are a drab. A Lot of international performers were roped in, many of them were first of its kind in the city. Some of these performances include six Carnival Performers to welcome guests, one stage performance with Carnival Dancers (ending with presenting of the trophy), Crystal Fountain represented Kohinoor Awards; Flute Mermaid as an installation was used to represent Pearl Awards. The princess of the sea, out of her shell stunningly stationed in the shell captivated the audience. Performer in Venetian Carnival costume represented Jade Awards. Carnival Dancers, which we normally witness in international carnivals thrilled the crowds with their acts. They also performed an exotic dance number before the presentation of the Kohinoor Award. Live Human Fountain Water Girl Statue Act which is being witnessed at Royal weddings and high profile corporate events was another act took the participants by surprise. Sufi Singer Nyvaan stole the show. With his mesmerizing sufi and other numbers took the evening to the new level. Guest danced and sang along with him. It was the best sufi experience to many for the first time besides other popular numbers. Nyvaan who performed at various platforms across the country was flown in from Dubai for the performance. Event Mangers who otherwise were so stressed out organizing events, for change smiled for themselves all through the event. It was their day. All the invitees were treated royally. We were elated the way the whole event went off. The décor, the grandeour, everything was stunningly well organised and it was truly an experience of attending a global event. Indeed, it was an event of the events commented many on the occasion. The event paid rich tributes to the former President Abdul Kalam by way of Caricature drawing act by talented artist Sanjeev and entire gathering stood for a minute as a mark of respect to the former president of India at the end of the drawing. TECI Event Excellence Awards 2015 was initiated with a mission to give event industry a boost, to help its professionals organise themselves into a group to tap the potential and take forward the Rs 400crore(on a conservative estimation) Event Industry in the state to the next level. TCEI solicited nominations for these awards in various categories with a nominal fee. TCEI received lot of nominations in the last one month. A panel of judges were drawn from such industries who were remotely related to the event industry. The final winners were chosen after strict scrutiny and personal interviews informed Neeraj K.S. Thakur, General Secretary and one of the brains behind the formation of TECI. TCEI is the first of its kind of a professional body of the event management industry in Telangana state launched last year in August and joined in elite group of 4 states such as Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarath, West Bengal who have their respective state level event industry professional bodies, Neeraj added. Adding further, Neeraj stated that during the three and half hour long show, TECI presented a first of its kind of Pearl of Hyderabad Awards in 36 different Categories. Besides these 5 Lifetime Achievement Awards too were given away to the distinguished professionals who achieved success in their chosen fields. 12 Jade Awards were presented for professional excellence, two in each of the six verticals. Kohinoor Award is initiated to be presented to such event management companies who are not based out of Hyderabad or Telangana but do organize events in Hyderabad. Which include Telangana Event Managers Association (TEMA), Telangana Sound Light Video Association (TSLVA), and Telangana Facilitators Association (TFA), Telangana Event Caterers Association (TECA), Telangana Event Venues Association (TEVA) and Telangana Entertainers Association (TEA). TCEI besides these awards, plans to make it an annual affair and would like to carry out the regular industry body activities such as holding workshops, seminars, knowledge sharing sessions, skill development etc. Event Management industry activities which until recently were confined to urban areas only is now spreading into rural markets too. This is a fast change being experienced as event management industry in India is just about 20years old. Some of the Hyderabad Event Management companies have even gone abroad and organised many events in international destinations. Indian event management industry is poised to clock a 20 per cent growth rate. The market is increasing from INR 28 billion in 2012. It was primarily an unorganized market which is slowly transitioning into an organized structure. Increasing in corporate and personal needing professionals to manage them has led to a major demand for event organizers. Today life is full of events, be it wedding, saree wearing ceremony, shashtipurthy, retirement, political entry, whatever may be the occasion, it is a grand and gala activity involves professional help. Even brands plan to increase the proportion of their Below the line spends from 18 per cent to 25% in the year 2015. The organised sector accounts for around 40% of the total events industry. There is a large unorganized events business, which could be as large or even larger than the organized portion of the industry. There is a sizable business opportunities to be explored. Hyderabad is a very important and potential market for the event industry in India. According to industry insiders, the Event Industry in Hyderabad grew by 800% in the last five years. Digitisation of Events, Digital Signages, LEDification, WiFication of the Events, Experiential Events, Gamification of the events, Companion web sites, Event reinventions, internationalisation of look and feel of the events, sustainable events, modernised event venues, theme events are some of the global trends, which the local event management companies already in sync with those developments. In other words the local event managements are swiftly risings to the global standards. Formation of TCEI and Awards by it come at a right time to take the industry forward.
