British Airways honours Amitabh Bachchan

BRITISH AIRWAYS BRINGS ITS FIRST 787 DREAMLINER TO HYDERABAD, HONORING THE SUPERSTAR, MR. AMITABH BACHCHAN

Hyderabad, 31 March 2014: British Airways' 85 years of rich legacy in India witnessed the grand arrival of its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Hyderabad today through its association with one of India's most revered actors, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.

British Airways' Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft touched down at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad at 04:45 hours today (Monday, 31 March 2014). The brand new aircraft adorned with a plaque commemorating and honoring the megastar Amitabh Bachchan, an individual truly known for his incomparable contribution to the Indian cinema over decades. This collaboration signifies rich legacy, commitment and success in the Indian market for both British Airways and Mr. Bachchan.

Customers travelling to Hyderabad will now get the opportunity to travel in the all new luxurious and ultra-modern Dreamliner 787, whilst experiencing British Airways' award winning hospitality. British Airways starts the Boeing 787 Dreamliner service in Hyderabad commencing from 31 March 2014.

Commenting on the occasion Christopher Fordyce- Regional Commercial Manager, British South Asia said "We are delighted to announce yet another milestone in British Airways' history in Hyderabad. Our very first Dreamliner 787 has made its landing here this morning and what better way to mark this momentous occasion than to honor the iconic Mr. Bachchan to commemorate this successful launch.

Our customers from Hyderabad can now take advantage of new levels of comfort and reduced jet-lag thanks to improvements in air quality, mood lighting, and quieter cabins, all features of the new 787. We welcome you all and do hope you enjoy the experience."
Mr. Amitabh Bachchan said, I am delighted to be associated with the launch of British Airways' 787Dreamliner in India. London is one of my favorite destinations and there is no better way to travel to the city than with British Airways. The service, food and flat beds on the long haul flights are second to none and / always arrive feeling well rested.

The new Dreamliner’s will feature the elegant cabin designs fitted on British Airways' new Boeing 777-300 ER aircraft, which have proved very popular with customers. All 787s will feature a new Club World 2:3:2 layout, the latest generation World Traveler and World Traveler Plus seats.

British Airways is continuing to improve services for customers and will roll out more new aircraft across its worldwide network as deliveries continue over the next three years. The new aircraft forms the centerpiece of the airline's £5 billion investment programme to benefit customers. The airline has ordered 12 A380s and 24 Boeing 787s. Eight of these aircraft have already joined the fleet, and a further eight will join the fleet later this year. The remaining aircraft rest over the next two years.

British Airways has been flying to India for around 85 years and currently operates 48 flights a week from London Heathrow to five cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

British Airways operates flights to India from London Heathrow's state-of-the-art Terminal 5 which opened on March 27, 2008 and is exclusive to the airline's customers and is capable of handling 30 million customers a year. In May 2013, Terminal 5 was named by Skytrax as the Best Airport Terminal for the second year running, based on surveys of 12 million frequent travelers. T5 also won the Best Airport Shopping award.

British Airways has recently been named the UK's Consumer Superbrand of 2014, securing the top position against 1,500 other brands and becoming the first airline or travel brand to win the prestigious title.
