Dr.Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad was an Indian poet and Avadhani. He performed over 500 avadhanams, including satavadhanam and dvisatavadhanam. He had also performed various avadhanas such as navarasavadhanam, and astadasavadhanam, etc. and introduced various new trends in avadhana vidya. Osmania University awarded him a Doctorate degree for his thesis on avadhanam vidya. Kavita Prasad is native of Nemali Village, Gampalagudem Mandalam in Krishna District of Andhra Pradesh. He was known by the title, Avadhana RaaRaaju (King of Kings of Avadhanam).
He served as the Joint Director in the Social Welfare Department and as the former Director of Culture in the undivided Andhra Pradesh and later continued with his duties in newly formed Telangana. He also served as secretary of Dharma Prachara Parishad (DPP), in TTD, Tirupati. He is survived by wife Nagini and sons Ramakoteswara Raju and Samvaran.
Kavita Prasad was the author of 'Avadhana Vidya - Arambha Vikasalu', 'Padyamandapam', 'Agnihimsa', 'Idi Kavisamayam', 'Saptagiridhama Kaliyuga Sarvabhouma', 'Kadambini'. Rallabandi's 'Ontari Poola Butta' an anthology of modern poetry received well among literary icons.
ACHIEVEMENTS (TELUGU LITERATURE)
? Performed ‘Ashtavadhanam’ in Bhadrachalam at the age of 18 years and completed more than 500 ‘Ashtavadhanams’ so far, all over India and also in USA , Singapore, Dubai and Malaysia.
? Invented new type of Avadhanams viz., 1. Ashtadasavadhanam (with 18 different items) 2. Navarasa Navavadhana, (9 Rasas and 9 Prichakas) 3. Alankara Ashtavadhanam (8 items from 100 alankaras) 4. Sahitya Prakriyavadhanam (8 different literary forms at a time) 5. Apeervadashavadghanam (10 different items including Modern Telugu Literature) 6. Vichitra Ashtavadhanam (Ashtavadhanam within 24 minutes).
? Performed Sathavadhanam in Machilipatnam in 1999.
? Performed Dwisathavadhanam in Vijayawada in 2000 which was telecasted by Doora Darshan, Hyderabad in 8 episodes.
? Performed ‘Aasukavitha Jhari’ at the speed of 300 Kanda Padyas in an hour in Raveendra Bharathi.
? Performed hundreds of ‘ Bhuvana Vijayam’ Indra Sabha’ – Kailasanatha Sabha’ – Vandematharam etc., literary programmes.
? Served as convenor of ‘ Krishna Mahothasav 2002’ at Divi Seema – a Mega event under the aegis of Government of Andhra Pradesh.
? Given ‘Aasukavitha Pradarsana’ before Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Sri A.B.Vajpai at Prime Minister’s residence, on the eve of Centenary Celebrations of ‘ Krishna Patrika’. Sri P.V.Narsimha Rao, former Prime Minister witnessed the programme in full and appreciated.
? Commentator for AIR and Doora Darshan for Bhadrachala Seetharamachandra Swami Kalyanam on Sri Rama Navami, Vaikuntha Ekadashi, Godavari Pushkarams and Tirumala Brahmotsavalu
? Conducted a new programme ‘Palakariste Padyam’ a novel programme – just like ‘ dail your song’ on TV in the year 2002.
? Has been a regular performer of Spiritual and literary programmes in all popular TV Channels.
? Participated in TANA and ATA USA -Performed AVADHANAM during the visit USA in 2005, 2006, 2008.
? Visited Dubai, Malaysia , Singapore , Indonesia, Mauritius, USA, etc.,
Performed ‘Indrasabha’ (written and directed) at Silicon Valley, USA in October 2003.
