Renowned Vocalist Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna Inaugurated DHI Artspace - A New Forum & Resource Centre for Visual Arts in Ameerpet, Hyderabad today

Renowned Vocalist Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna will be inaugurating DHI Artspace, a new forum and resource centre dedicated to visual arts in Dharamkaran Road, Ameerpet, Hyderabad today Sunday 5th October 2014 morning 10 AM. DHI Artspace was conceived as an art forum and resource centre for artists, art researchers and all art enthusiasts. This will be housing a spacious art gallery, a small library, a digital resource centre along with a print making facility.

DHI Artspace plans to host exciting and stimulating art discussions, lectures, film screenings and performances on a regular basis. It is founded by Bhargavi Gundala, a postgraduate from the Fine Arts Department of University of Hyderabad.
On the occasion of inauguration, DHI Artspace is organising a preview of the exhibition of artworks showcasing three young and talented artists from Baroda. The exhibition titled Real and Imagined Spaces will be on view till 15th November 2014. It will feature the paintings of Prasad K.P., Kundan Mondal and Rakesh Roy Chaudhary, who are working in different media.

THE ARTISTS AND THEIR WORKS:
Prasad K. P. did his BFA in painting from Thrissur, Kerala and completed his Masters' in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2011. Prasad has exhibited at several prestigious galleries across India including the Gallery OED Kochi in 2008 and Galerie88 in Kolkata in 2014. Real and Imagined Spaces showcases a series of Prasad's recent watercolours done between 2008 and 2013 where he explores the relationship between humans/animals and their habitats.
Hailing from West Bengal, Kundan Mondal did his Bachelors' programme in Visual Art from the Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and completed his Postgraduate diploma in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda in 2009. He has participated in group shows held both in India and abroad. Mondal's works at Real and Imagined Spaces are a mixed-media, multilayered extravaganza of pictorial motifs referring to Kalighat painting, folk imagery and the works of great artists from the past.

Rakesh Roy Chaudhary, originally from Assam, completed both his Bachelors' and Masters' degrees in painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts, M.S. University of Baroda (in 2010). He has participated in group shows at Ahmedabad, New Delhi and Mumbai. Chaudhary's oil paintings at Real and Imagined Spaces represent fantastic extra-terrestrial worlds - floating mountains and decorative geological formations, rendered in a muted palette.
