ANR National Award announcement for Hema Malini

Akkineni Nageswara Rao announces this year’s Akkineni National Award to the Bollywood Dream Girl Hema Malini. This award has been given to the veteran actors for the past six years by Akkineni International Foundation. In a press meet organised today, the Committee Chairman T Subba Ramireddy announced Hema Malini’s name as this year’s award winner. The award function will be held on December 26th evening at N-Convention for which Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar is the Chief Guest.

T Subba Ramireddy said, “I’m very proud and happy to be as the chairman of this award committee. ANR was inspired by the Dada Saheb Phalke award and implemented ‘Akkineni National Award’ through Akkineni International Foundation. He deposited Rs 1 crore in the foundation account and is organizing this event through the interest amount from 2005 onwards. This award event will be continued by the Akkineni family for generations. I thank Akkineni for cultivating one such great event.”

Akkineni said, “I got this idea when I received Dada Saheb Phalke award in 1991. So in 2005 I established a committee and started giving away Akkineni National Award every year through Akkineni International Foundation. This year we have chosen prominent dancer cum actress Padmasree Hema Malini for honoring with this award. My family members will continue this practice as memories for future generations.”
