Ragada-Simply Ragada Ragada Ragada!!!

‘Ragada’ is a mass masala film directed by ‘Bindaas’ fame Veeru Potla and produced by D Sivakumar Reddy under Kamakshi Enterprises banner. Nagarjuna is doing a mass oriented role and for the first time he is playing a man from Rayalaseema region. Anushka and Priyamani are the two leading sexy ladies in this film. After two successful musical hits ‘Kick’ and ‘Brindavanam’, this is Thaman’s third film. I hope he gave Nag’s fans a taste of new music. Let’s see…..
Meesamunna Manmadhuda Music: Thaman. S Lyrics: Ramjogayya Sastry Singer: Shankar Mahadevan, Rita, Himabindu, Geetha Madhuri
The track starts with high tempo and interesting mass beats. The starting line “Meesamunna Manmadhuda, masthu masthu sundaruda, chaakulanti chanduruda, adaramu nee Ragada….” is written especially on Nagarjuna. Geeta Madhuri renders these lines. The powerful voice of lead singer Shankar Mahadevan starts with “Hey…Suno Suno…naa pere Ragada”. Lyrics written by Ramajogayya Sastry are sure to attract the younger lot and the track will be popular among them.
Shirisha Shirisha Music: Thaman. S Lyrics: Ramjogayya Sastry Singer: Hariharan, Sri Vardhini Thaman
Here is a song for all the young and energetic youth out there. I know you all would love to listen to this track that has a little bit of rock thrown in. “Maya Maya Maya Maayy …Maya Maya Maya Maayy….Ye Shirisha Shirisha ….Entha pani chesave Shirisha...Ye Shirisha Shirisha ….Nanu love lo dhinchesave Shirisha….”. Isn’t it interesting to hum along folks? Well! Thanks to Rama Jogayya Sastry for providing such magical lyrics that make the listeners go with the rewind button again and again. The middle stanza in the song is combined with a western-style fast tempo and they are rendered by Thaman. However, this kind of western mix in Indian film songs is not new in today’s films. Hariharan and Sri Vardhini rendered the song with enthusiasm and in the right feel.
Bholo Ashta Lakshmi Music: Thaman. S Lyrics: Ramjogayya Sastry Singer: Karthik, Geetha Madhuri
‘Bholo Ashta Lakshmi’ is a mass song sung by Karthik and Geetha Madhuri. The song slams into pounding drum beats till the end. Lyrics are just ok. This song is simply insane, but with killer drums, killer vocals and killer chorus I’m sure it will make you want to get up and dance along in theaters.
Okkadante Okkade Music: Thaman. S Lyrics: Ramjogayya Sastry Singer: Ramya NS, Suchitra
‘Okkadante Okkade handsome….’ is a peppy number in western style. Sung by Ramya NS and Suchitra, this track moves to routine and is not so impressive. You can simply ignore this song like you ignore the background music.
Ragada Ragada Music: Thaman. S Lyrics: Ramjogayya Sastry Singer: Baba Sehgal, Chitra, Rita
It appears Thaman is sticking to regular mantra with drum beats. ‘Ragada Ragada…’ has a very catchy beats mixed with claps. This is also yet another mass song and lyrics might appeal to front benchers only. I’m not carried away with lyrics in this song, but the crazy beats are tempting me go with the rewind button. Vocals by Baba Sehgal, Chitra and Rita are easy going. Folks, you all can enjoy watching the two sizzling beauties in this song. But the songs in this film are aptly indicating that as age catches up, one would love to become younger and younger.
Em Pillo Yappillo Music: Thaman. S Lyrics: Ramjogayya Sastry Singer: Karthik, Anuradha Sriram
Hmm…the album ends with yet another heavy song. ‘Em Pillo Aappillo…..’ is sung by Karthik and Anuradha Sriram. The beats are too heavy that I got fed up and couldn’t continue to listen to it till the end. Hence I decided to ignore this one too.
Thaman has composed all songs with mass drum beats. I liked the song ‘Shirisha Shirisha’ because of the vocalists’ graceful rendition and I enjoyed the beat sounds in the song ‘Ragada Ragada’. These apart, ‘Meesamunna Manmadhuda’ and ‘Bholo Ashta Lakshmi’ are ok and the remaining two songs can be simply ignored. This album is not as impressive as Thaman’s ‘Kick’ and ‘Brindavanam’. This is purely my opinion so just listen to the songs and make your own choice.
