Prime Hospitals accorded the prestigious NABH

Endeavours to be the lead hospital in the state, offering highest standard care

Hospital will aim for JCI accreditation

Hyderabad, August 25th, 2012: Prime Hospitals – a hospital owned and run by doctors and located at Ameerpet and Kukatpally, has been accorded the prestigious National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) accreditation on the eve of its fifth anniversary. This recognition catapults Prime Hospitals into the league of the highest quality health care providers in the country. This momentous accomplishment was announced at a Press Conference by Dr. B. Nagaraju, Managing Director and Dr. B.S.V. Raju, Director, Prime Hospitals on Saturday, here. The hospital is in the process of obtaining NABL – an accreditation for the Labs, by this year end and would aim for the international accreditation – JCI, in due course.

NABH, a constituent board of the Quality Council of India, accords accreditation for healthcare organizations and sets benchmarks for progress of the health industry. NABH is equivalent to Joint Commission International (JCI) and other International standards, therefore its accreditation is on par with the world’s most leading hospital accreditations. NABH accreditation provides an objective system of empanelment by insurance and other third parties. CGHS, ECHS have made it mandatory for empanelled hospitals to be NABH accredited.

B M Birla Heart Research Centre was the first Hospital to be accredited by NABH in 2006. Prime Hospitals, Ameerpet, Hyderabad is the 127th hospital in the country to obtain NABH accreditation. At present, only 137 hospitals have been accredited across the country. In Andhra Pradesh only 15 hospitals have been recognised, out of which Prime hospitals is among first ten multi speciality hospitals

The process of being accredited was long and arduous. It took two years for Prime Hospitals to complete the full process. We faced myriad stumbling blocks including changing the mindset of the staff to accept progressive methods, constant attrition of nursing staff and with the compliance of statutory requirements itself. However, unstinted commitment of the management and staff ensured Prime Hospitals met the benchmarks and gained NABH accreditation, says Dr. Nagaraju.

Prime Hospital qualified on all the 602 stringent parameters of the exhaustive healthcare standard for hospitals designed by QCI and NABH. The hospital through a process-driven approach ensured compliance in all aspects of hospital activities including registration, admission, pre-operative, pre-surgery and post-surgery protocols, discharge, post discharge follow-up, ensured compliance with the parameters. In a nutshell, Prime Hospitals through NABH streamlined its entire operations, thereby ensured that its systems, processes and actions are focused on patient safety and well being, adds Dr. Nagaraju.

The Hospital which is celebrating its 5th anniversary at a cultural program today with Sri SV Prasad IAS, Vigilance Commissioner, Govt. of AP & Sri A.K. Khan IPS, Vice Chairman & Managing Director APSRTC, as Chief guests, has a well laid out plan to elevate the hospital to the next level. On the occasion of the fifth anniversary, the hospital is starting state-of-the-art Allergy Clinic, Geriatric clinic - which deals with old age problems, managed by our senior professor of Pulmonology, Dr.Prabhakar Rao, in addition to Electro cardio-physiology procedures, to its comprehensive list of specialities.
