Top Movies to see this December-January

To kick start your Christmas film fest, we have Gautham Menon’s beautiful romantic love story flick ‘Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu’ starring Nani and Samantha as lead pair. The movie obtained clean ‘U’ certificate and hits our cinema screens on 14th December. With music by maestro Ilayaraja, this musical romantic flick sees Nani and Samantha in characters that travel through three different stages of love life. Guess what….the trailers make the moviegoers restless as they want to see it right away. Just few more hours to hit screens.

Next is Srihari, Sairam Shankar, Parvathy Melton and Sanjjanaa starrer ‘Yamaho Yamaha’, a full-fledged comedy entertainer written and directed by Jitendra. This movie was made with the concept of Yama landing in America. December 14th will see this movie in theaters along with ‘Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu’. Of late Srihari’s sentiment is doing wonders for most of the films that he is part of it. For this reason alone, let’s see if he repeats his magic with this film.

‘Sarocharu’ is really more of comedy with some romance thrown in. Directed by Parasuram and produced by Priyanka Dutt, ‘Sarocharu’ is another romantic Christmas film which is set to be released on 21st December. The recently released audio composed by Devisri Prasad got positive reviews from critics and the music lovers. Ravi Teja will be seen as a football coach. It also stars Kajal and Richa Gangopadhyay.

Allari Naresh and Richa Panai’s ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’ is also based on the concept of Yama directed by E Satti Babu. Producer Chanti Addala is back into films after a considerable break of 5 years. Apparently the film is receiving good response all over right from the time of its audio launch. The film also sees stars like Shayaji Shinde, Ramyakrishna, Bharath and Krishna Bhagawan. It’s due for release on December 22nd which is of course very apt for family audience.

You can always catch up some great films during the festive season. At this juncture, 2013 will kick off with this big film 'Naayak' on January 9th. VV Vinayak and producer DVV Danayya have teamed up to do this high voltage action entertainer that sees Ram Charan in dual role – class and a mass. The movie also stars two beautiful heroines Kajal and Amala Paul. This much awaited movie’s audio is expected in the market this week-end. S Thaman is said to have come up with some catchy tunes.

Coming your way this Sankranti is yet another highly anticipated ‘Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu’ starring two handsome hunks Venkatesh and Mahesh Babu with two gorgeous ladies Anjali and Samantha. The film earned good craze among the movie buffs from the time of its launch. Srikanth Addala is wielding megaphone for this feel good family entertainer that showcases the human values and importance of relationships. Coming from Dil Raju’s production house, expectations are very high on this film which could be brilliant (that’s what people say). SVSC hits the silver screen on 11th January.

Kamal Haasan’s spy thriller ‘Vishwaroopam’ is considered as one of the greatest Indian movies ever. Although the film stars Pooja Kumar, Andrea Jeremiah, Rahul Bose, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nassar, Zarina Wahab, Sekhar Kapoor (cameo) and many international artists, it’s going to be a one man show with Kamal’s terrific acting and direction. ‘Vishwaroopam’ will be the first Indian film ever to be equipped with Auro 3D sound format and also to release on DTH platforms, on the concept of one time watch for just Rs 1,000 (US $18.2). This highly anticipated trilingual film is scheduled for release on January 11, 2013.

‘Gundello Godari’ is another major film which is simultaneously made in Telugu and Tamil. The film was supposed to release in December 1st week. However, the release date is yet to be announced by the makers. GG is a beautiful romantic flick that revolves around four lives during Godavari floods in 1986. After Gautham Menon’s YVM, this is yet another film that has scored good marks for its music, composed by maestro Ilayaraja. GG stars Aadi Pinisetty, Lakshmi Manchu, Sundeep Kishan and Taapsee in lead roles. Lakshmi Manchu is producing this beautiful film shot on beautiful locations in Godavari districts. Kumar Nagendra is the director.

‘Ongole Githa’ in the combination of Ram, Bommarillu Bhaskar and Chatrapathi Prasad is also expected in theaters during the Christmas holidays. Although the producer announced that the movie will be a Christmas gift, he is yet to confirm the date. The production got delayed a bit due to heavy rains by Nilam cyclone effect. Kirti Karbanda played the female lead role in this action cum family entertainer set against the backdrop of mirchi market yard in Guntur. G V Prakash Kumar is providing the music.

Deva Katta took home the black lady (Filmfare Award) for Best Film Critics Choice for his 2010 ‘Prasthanam’. Like ‘Prasthanam’, ‘Autonagar Surya’ too stems from the actual happenings that occur in real life. It’s about a group of automobile engineers and remodeling skill workers lead by an orphan skilled worker named Surya, played by Naga Chaitanya. The film will see Samantha in a homely character. The posters and teaser have already generated good buzz. R R Movie Makers and Max India Productions banners are jointly making this movie which has Anoop Rubens’ music and Srikanth Naroj’s cinematagraphy. Deva Katta’s this political thriller is definitely on the forefront. This movie is supposed to release sometime in December but release date is not yet been announced.

And last but by no means we have one more film ‘Mirchi’ for Sankranti. The film sees Prabhas, Anushka and Richa Gangopadhyay in lead roles. Writer Koratala Shiva is turning director through this film. The posters and the trailers are tempting the moviegoers and are testing their patience. Expectations have gone high on the music too. DSP is scoring music and it’s expected to hit stands on 23rd December. Producer V Vamsi Krishna Reddy announced that ‘Mirchi’ is scheduled for Sankrati release, but now we have to wait for the confirmed date.

Apart from the above mentioned films, there are wide range of dubbed films like ‘Bad Boys’, ‘Vetadu Ventadu’, ‘Love To Love’, ‘Pizza’ and ‘Paradesi’ during this festive season besides the small ones like ‘Genius’, ‘Vasul Raja’, 'Swamy Ra Ra' and ‘Mythri’ to entertain the movie lovers during this holiday season.
