Putting aside his ‘Rana’ film, Rajnikanth recently announced his new film ‘Kochadaiyaan’ which is a 3D film. The title ‘Kochadaiyaan’ refers to a king with matted hair. The title is hinting that the film could be the historical film as it is also the first name of seventh century Pandya ruler Kochadaiyaan Ranadheeran and that Rajni could be reprising the role of this king.
‘Kochadaiyaan’ will be directed by Rajnikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya. This movie will be made through Motion Picture Capture Technology. Remember Hollywood film like ‘Avatar’ was also filmed with this technology only. Another interesting aspect is who the heroine would be in this film? As per the Chennai sources it’s understood that Anushka has been roped in to play the leading lady opposite Rajni. Remember, Anushka won huge accolades for her outstanding performance in ‘Arundathi’. So it’s natural for any filmmaker to think of Anushka especially for such historical subjects.
Rajnikanth will be working on ‘Rana’ only after the completion of ‘Kochadaiyaan’, i.e., in August. His animated film ‘Sultan The Warrior’ which is now titled as ‘Dheera’ is now expected to release only in 2012.
