Theatre strike called off in Telugu states

The strike against the digital distribution companies, by the Telugu Film Joint Action Committee (JAC) was called off on March 7. The JAC has discussed with Digital Service Providers and started again the screening of films from March 8.

As per the decision of South Indian Film Industry Joint Action Committee (SIFIJAC), all the producers, exhibitors and distributors have protested against the excessive amounts being charged by the digital providers and theaters across south India remained shut from March 2, 2018.

Speaking at the press meet held on Wednesday in Hyderabad, Convenor of JAC, D Suresh Babu said, “The issues have been cleared and the strike has been called off in Telugu states. The screening of the film will restart from Thursday. However, some theaters owners have decided to open the shutters on Friday with the new releases. Digital Service Providers have agreed few of our demands. Some are still pending. We are trying to resolve all the issues.”

President of Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce Gemini Kiran, KL Damodar Prasad, ShyamPrasad Reddy, Murali Mohan Rao and Mutyala Ramdas were present at the press meet.
