Senior artist O Kalyan has alleged that a scam worth Rs 300 Cr took place at Chitrapuri Colony, where housing for deserving cine workers was envisioned. As per him, the eligible ones didn't get a house allotted for themselves. His comments come ahead of the December 10th elections in the Chitrapuri Colony Housing Society.

Speaking today, Kalyan said, "The government had allotted 65 acres for the purpose. The wealth of the Housing Society has been looted by its members since 2001. The likes of Tammareddy Bharadwaj, Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao and Vinod Bala are entrenched interests there."

"Tammareddy says that funds are not available to build houses for poor workers. And he has co-opted outside vested interests. Haven't film stars played cricket matches and raised funds when we were short of money in the past? I have always opposed corruption involving contractors. We consulted C Kalyan on the issue but he hasn't shown much interest," Kalyan said, alleging that kickbacks of up to Rs 100 Cr have been witnessed.

Kalyan spoke of various instances of what he deems as corrupt practices in the Housing Society.
