Rajamouli calls on CM Jagan, response is mixed

Ahead of the theatrical release of 'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram', SS Rajamouli and producer DVV Danayya on Monday called on the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister at his camp office in Tadepalli. The purpose is quite obvious. The makers of the film want cinema ticket rates to be hiked for the Jr NTR-Ram Charan movie. Besides, they wish for benefit shows/extra shows to be granted so that distributors can recover their investments in AP.

As per early media reports, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy responded positively to a request made by the 'Baahubali' director. However, Minister Perni Nani stated that no benefit shows will be permitted. He also said that Rajamouli was there to thank Jagan for the recent GO for the film industry.

Recently, an extra show per day at single screens was allowed through a GO. However, it came with the rider that at least one show should be reserved for small films between 11 am and 9 pm. Moreover, since 'RRR' was not shot in AP, it doesn't meet the 20% cut-off (meaning at least 20% of the movie should be shot in AP) prescribed by the GO to avail special benefits of increased ticket price hike.

But Jagan, it is hoped, will allow 'RRR' to enjoy some leeway because it has been made on a huge budget. The GO allows for a case-by-case grant of benefits by authorities.
