Sai Kumar on Thursday recalled that it was on this day (Oct 20) in the year 1972 that he first donned make-up and enacted it on stage. It was Duryodhana whom he essayed. His stage act was witnessed by some of the biggest names in the film industry. Years later, he debuted as a dubbing artist with NT Rama Rao's 'Samsaram' as a child.
'Devudu Chesina Pelli' with Sobhan Babu was his first movie as a child artist. After doing scores of films in Telugu, Kannada and Tamil over five decades, he is going to debut in Mollywood very soon. Besides feature films, Sai Kumar has also been a part of TV and OTT.
In a statement, the 'Dialogue King' said that he is thankful to the makers of 'Police Story', a film that became a game-changer and made him a sought-after hero in Sandalwood. Speaking about the impact of 'Police Story' on his career, Sai Kumar recently said, "After that movie, I was stuck in an image trap for long. In a matter of 7 years, I did more than 54 movies in Kannada. They didn't feature a heroine! Those movies used to be full of action and punchlines. They were low-budget movies that used to be shot in 30-35 days."
'Prasthanam' fetched him laurels in 2010. A recipient of two Nandi Awards and three Filmfare Awards, Sai Kumar is inspired by the likes of SV Ranga Rao and Shivaji Ganesan.
