The trailer of 'Godfather' begins with Puri Jagannadh's voice-over narrating the premise of a turbulent political crisis afflicting an unnamed State after the passing away of Chief Minister PKR. A journalist's character becoming a story-teller makes sense.
We see that a political battle unfolds between PKR's son-in-law (Satyadev Kancharana) and Brahma (Chiranjeevi), with the latter knowing how to outsmart, outwit and outdo the former. Nayanthara plays a layered character who first appears to be uninterested in the thrown.
Director Mohan Raja may or may not have given his own spin to the Malayalam original 'Lucifer'. But the razor-sharp focus on style and swag can't be missed with the entry of Salman Khan. Together with the Megastar, he is there to up the style quotient.
The film, whose music is by SS Thaman and cinematography is by Nirav Shah, has Murali Sharma, Samuthirakani and Sunil playing other parts. Suresh Selvarajan and Lakshmi Bhupala have done the production design and written dialogues, respectively.
The film is heading to theatres on October 5.
