Akkineni Nagarjuna's 'Manmadhudu' (2002), directed by K Vijaya Bhaskar, is up for a re-release on August 29. Many are describing the romantic comedy as a blockbuster. But it was not.

The film was an above-average performer at the box-office. In today's times, a classic comedy like this film would create a sensation. Reasons why 'Manmadhudu' couldn't mint blockbuster numbers back in the day are subjective in nature. It is said that the title was not family-friendly.

In an interview in 2019 before the release of 'Manmadhudu 2', Nagarjuna said in an interview that his 2002 film was not a blockbuster. "It was an above-average performer. I know it for sure because I produced it," the 'Bangarraju' actor added.

In terms of repeat value, this one is among the greatest Telugu films ever. The tracks involving Brahmanandam, Sunil and Dharmavarapu Subramanyam are absolutely hilarious. Hope the film mints good monies upon its re-release.
