Prashanth Neel today said that there is no romantic song or duet in 'Salaar' for a reason. And the reason is pretty obvious if you are clued into Neel's kind of story-telling. He didn't want to compromise on the intensity inherent to the drama by infusing a duet between Prabhas and Shruti Haasan.
Shruti, the director said, is not part of any glamorous segment in 'Salaar'. "She is part of the story. Hers is a strong character. The world has changed a great deal in the last few years. People are exposed to international content. They want to witness pure drama," Neel said.
The 'KGF' maker made the remarks while answering a question posed by SS Rajamouli in a special interview. The 'RRR' maker said that he loved Shruti in a song in 'Race Gurram' and another song in 'Srimanthudu'. "I badly expected a duet in 'Salaar'," the 'Baahubali' maker joked.
Rajamouli added, "I would say that the audience were always ready for the change (doing away with forced songs in favour of drama). But the directors were not confident and brave enough. Therefore, we clung to the old ways."
