Bhagyashri Borse: A glam queen undone by a stupid directorial sense

So much is riding on Bhagyashri Borse these days. She is poised to become the next big star heroine in Telugu cinema. You only have to watch her talent in the songs of 'Mr. Bachchan'.

However, 'Mr. Bachchan' was not the ideal launch pad that she deserved. While the songs have turned out to be a saving grace for her, director Harish Shankar's over-the-top presentation of her is a gigantic disappointment, to put it diplomatically.

Her character Jikki is seen wearing sarees/half-sarees like only Harish Shankar's heroines do. Nobody dresses that way in real life anywhere in the Telugu States. The make-up is off. The style of wearing her dresses is made to look suggestive.

As it is, our filmmakers really have inferior capabilities when it comes to presenting most actresses. Many of these female actors look far better offscreen than in the saturated, supposedly mass-friendly movies they are ill-fated to act in. The framing, the staging, the execution - everything works against a natural presentation of potential star heroines.
