The opinions held by Netizens about the state of the Telugu film industry are not flattering. Far from being optimistic and colourful, they paint a gloomy picture of an industry that prides itself on making the highest number of pan-Indian movies.
"Our stars are chasing big-scale films when in reality what really made them evergreen stars and household names were the smaller human dramas that people are able to revisit beyond its opening weekend constantly. Not creating versatile filmographies is holding them back right now," Ganeshen, a Twitter user, opined, reflecting the concerns of a wide section of the audience.
Some folks have a problem with the 'Baahubali' hangover. "While Rajamouli's films have undoubtedly raised the bar for Indian cinema in terms of scale and visual spectacle, the industry-wide trend of sequels and inflated ticket prices for even average films is a concern," a movie buff argued.
But aren't we the best in the country when it comes to action sequences? "TFI's fight sequences often fall short in terms of excitement. The overuse of slow-motion shots can make them feel sluggish and uninteresting. While there are occasional standout moments like Ram Charan's entry in 'RRR', these are exceptions rather than the rule," Shantharam, a Netizen, said.
The audience, too, have been criticized. "Despite frequent complaints about the lack of quality films in Tollywood, many viewers fail to support independent or experimental projects like 'Month of Madhu,' 'Swag,' and 'Pekamedalu.' Instead, they often flock to theaters for films that adhere to outdated tropes and stereotypes, reinforcing their existing beliefs," VK opined.
There is also a view that most of Natural Star Nani's hyped movies like 'Shyam Singha Roy' and 'Hi Nanna' are liked by the audience because others do much worse movies.
