Thaman has been accused of ultra-loud sound mixing for movies like Akhanda and Akhanda 2. With reports saying that some single screens have seen their sound speakers blast, the composer has defended himself.
"Many theatres don't maintain their speakers well. If my sound mixing is the issue, all speakers should break down. Many theatres replaced their projectors, and updated them to adapt to the latest Qube technology. However, old speakers continued to be used. If you ride at 100 kms speed without maintaining your tyres, your tyres will burst out. Big screens and those maintained properly have never faced issues with speakers," Thaman said.
The composer also added that engineers from Dolby Atmos analyze the entire movie and finalize theatrical sound markings. "It's they who decide where the decibel levels have to be raised and which scenes need to be played at a high sound," the OG composer said.
