Game Changer Trailer: Old-school face-offs and loudness

The Trailer of Game Changer makes a point that reveals a lot about what is wrong with the Indian psyche. We have failed to produce honest leadership, because we are a deeply corrupt and nepotistic culture. So, Ram Charan's IAS character comes up with a bargain on behalf of the resigned masses. Share a morsel, distribute alms (freebies or whatever you call it), and fill the stomachs of the lazy, low-ambition masses. Keep the mountains of grains with you. This is nothing but mainstreaming sadistic feudalism in the name of commercial cinema. But commercial films are not supposed to be brainy in the Indian context anyways.

Director Shankar's films have always been provocative. Aparichitudu teared into the pathological inefficiency of Indians like no other commercial film. Game Changer isn't a patch on that masterpiece; but it captures the pessimistic mood of the GenZ and millennials. "We can't fight the super-corrupt. We would rather settle for a morsel of grains".

As far as the treatment goes, the film doesn't seem to have anything catchy to offer. The VFX shots are intrusive. The romantic track seems to be a mess (unless Kiara Advani turns out to be the daughter of a negative character, in which case it will turn out to be messier). SJ Suryah's signature eccentricity, as seen in Saripodhaa Sanivaaram, is noticeably absent. Srikanth, who has been actively promoting the film through interviews, is sidelined by the Trailer. The songs appear to be aesthetically unappealing.

This January 10, Game Changer will be out. Until then, best of luck searching for positives in the Trailer.
