Advocate Subba Rao has filed a complaint with the Panjagutta police, alleging that the prominent playback singer Mangli cheated him of Rs 10 crore. He further claimed that when he asked for his money back, she threatened him, stating that his "body would not even be found." The victim also alleged that nearly 150 people have been defrauded and claimed that Virata Parvam fame director Venu Udugula and Mangli’s brother were also part of this conspiracy. Following the victim's complaint regarding a threat to his life, the police have registered a case against Mangli, Venu Udugula, and Mangli's brother under BNS Sections 351(2) and 352.

In November 2025, Mangli was in the news when a man was arrested for online abuse of her. An independent music song titled Bayilone Ballipalike, rendered by her, was released. Soon after it was out, an Instagram user named Medipally Star put out a video clip in which he used cuss words against the singer. A fan of Mangli lodged a police complaint, saying that her modesty was outraged. She added that the verbal abuse was derogatory and offensive. Since Mangli is an ST person, a complaint has been lodged under relevant provisions of the SC-ST Act. The Hyderabad police arrested the offender.
