Tollywood filmmaker Venu Udugula has categorically stated that has nothing to do whatsoever with the FIR filed against playback singer Mangli.

Before we get to know what Venu has said in his defence, here is the case history: Advocate Subba Rao, on Saturday, filed a complaint with the Panjagutta police, alleging that the prominent playback singer Mangli cheated him of Rs 10 crore. He further claimed that when he asked for his money back, she threatened him, stating that his "body would not even be found." The victim also alleged that nearly 150 people have been defrauded and claimed that Virata Parvam fame director Venu Udugula and Mangli’s brother were also part of this conspiracy.

Venu is undergoing mental stress over the media reports naming him. As per his version, he had advised Mangli and the victim to amicably settle the issue and also do justice to those who have been allegedly defrauded. "That is the extent of my involvement in this matter," Venu shared, adding that his name wasn't mentioned in the FIR, and that the media reports are factually incorrect. The director added that both the police and the complainant had categorically stated that he was not in the wrong at all. He urged the media to do due diligence and not damage his reputation.
