'Papam Prathap' Trailer: This Red Pill bats for mentally abused men

The term most commonly used by Men's Rights Activists (MRAs) to describe a film that aligns with their perspectives is "Red Pill". Papam Prathap, to be released in theatres on April 17, is one such film.

Thiruveer of Masooda fame plays a newly-wed man whose wife (Payal Radhakrishna) ditches him without seeking a formal divorce. The villagers start gossiping about his unknown "fault". When a woman walks out of a marriage, the fault always lies with men, right? Written and directed by SP Durga Naresh, the film attempts to bat for men who have been wronged by misandry, which promotes hatred against men.

Ajay Ghosh and Raasi have key roles as the male lead's parents. Srinivas Avasarala's character might enter the screen in the second half to deliver a social message. Comedians like Ravi Anthony of MAD fame and Prasad Behara feature as gossipping villagers.

"Papam Prathap feels like a film by EVV Satyanarayana garu. People often say, 'A man shouldn't cry' or 'A man shouldn't feel pain.' But a man is also a human being. And that emotion is shown beautifully in this film. The climax is wonderful," Thiruveer said at Saturday's trailer launch event. KM Radha Krishna is the music director.
