The Nandamuri BasavaRama Tarakam NTR Charitable Trust has stepped forward to help flood-affected families in Assam. The Trust was formed to mark the birth centenary of Smt. Nandamuri BasavaRama Tarakam, wife of legendary actor Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (NTR). It has now dispatched essential relief materials to the flood victims.
A Trust-Led Relief Drive
Moved by the destruction caused by the floods in Assam, the Trust launched a large relief campaign. Volunteers collected essential supplies from people across the Telugu states. The materials were handed over to the NGO The Embryos, which will distribute them among affected families in Assam. The consignment includes food supplies, clothing, drinking water, and other daily necessities.
Strong Response from Telugu States and Abroad
The relief drive received wide support. Contributions poured in from Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Khammam, and several other regions. Supporters living abroad also came forward to help, adding to the scale of the initiative.
Trust Members Speak on the Initiative
Producer and cinematographer Nandamuri Mohanakrishna spoke about the effort. He recalled NTR's belief that "Society is our temple and people are our God." He said the Trust was inspired by this ideal and remains committed to serving humanity. He added that the Trust stands in solidarity with the people of Assam and thanked everyone who supported the cause. He said the Trust was formed only to serve society, without expecting anything in return, and that more service activities will follow.
Nandamuri Mohan Roopa also thanked contributors. She paid respects to NTR and BasavaRama Tarakam and said the floods had severely affected countless families in Assam. She noted that the public response exceeded expectations, especially support from Indians abroad. She confirmed the supplies are being sent through The Embryos and said this is only the first consignment, with more relief to follow in coming days.
Nandamuri Seemanthini shared similar sentiments. She said it was a matter of pride to run a Trust in the names of NTR and BasavaRama Tarakam. She said the response to the Assam relief drive had been overwhelming, with many families contributing generously. She thanked everyone who stood by the initiative.
