Agadha: MS Raju bets big on self-release ahead of August 14 release

Buzz is building fast around Agadha, and the numbers game behind it is turning heads. With its global theatrical bow set for August 14, the mystical supernatural thriller film is reportedly lighting up box-office chatter across territories well before release.

Distributors have been circling hard, especially after a promo run that landed. The trailer, in particular, struck a chord, with its mystical tone and striking visuals pulling in a wave of positive buzz. Here is the twist: despite a stack of lucrative offers on the table, director MS Raju is reportedly walking away from a straight sale. "Backing his own film's commercial instincts, he is choosing to self-release through Geetha Arts and Annapurna Studios rather than hand over the rights," a source says.

That confidence seems to be paying off. The release map is now locked across every major territory, with a distribution machine built for a wide, Independence Day-weekend push. "Moksha Movies has come aboard to handle the USA release, a notable win that boosts the film's overseas standing considerably," the source reveals.

On screen, Agadha is shaping up as a visually loaded supernatural drama steeped in divine mythology. Its reverse-chronology narrative, dense production design, heavy CGI, and eerie score have all fed the growing curiosity as release day nears.

Starring Kamakshi Bhaskarla, Shravan Reddy, Ulka Gupta, Bhanu Chander, Shiju, Vanitha Vijaykumar, Roshan Basheer, Shreya Rani Reddy, Viva Raghava, Robert Master, Aarna Muler, and Kanakavva, Agadha is produced by Kasi Visalakshi Balusu on Sri Adi Varaha Productions. Edited by Junaid Siddiqui, it is shot by cinematographer Nani Chamidisetty. The music is composed by Rakesh Venkatapuram, while the art direction is done by Rajeev Nair. Chaitanya Vege has written the additional screenplay.

Agadha is slated to be released in theatres on August 14.
