Actor Suriya, in a chit-chat with anchor Suma Kanakala, shared a defining moment from his early career. When he was around 22 or 23 years old, he drove a friend to deliver a wedding invitation to a minister's home. During the visit, the friend introduced Suriya as the son of legendary actor Sivakumar. The minister remarked that Suriya resembled his father closely, and suggested Suriya would simply repeat his father's acting style, body language, and voice modulation for the next generation. This casual comment deeply triggered the young actor.
Determined to create his own identity, Suriya made a conscious decision. He stopped watching his father’s movies to avoid sub-consciously copying his style, acknowledging that sharing the same DNA makes some physical resemblance natural. However, the Karuppu star refused to become a mere copy of his father. That single interaction pushed him to carve out an entirely distinct path in the film industry, shaping the unique actor he is today.
